Epidemic of colds going around at the moment

In the last week we've seen a real "ramp up" in specimens positive for Flu A and Flu B and quite a few with dual infections. We're apparently looking at an efficacy of about 10% for the Flu jab this year.

Finally decided to call the doctors, nothing for two weeks :D great stuff. I can try at 8am for an emergency appointment. I’m really struggling to breath when out in the cold air, it’s awful.

My dad is like that - having to borrow my mum's inhaler (not sure if that is a good idea) as there is a massive backlog.

Have to say I've never been ill like this before - aside from one day generally feeling OK except minor sore throat - until I try to do anything or talk and then it hits me and the more I try to do anything the worse it gets until I take it easy and rest again and then I'll rapidly go back to feeling fine, repeat.

Thing is I don't really need an excuse to lounge about and things I want to get on with LOL.

Got an emergency appointment this morning, saw the Dr who was really good, I was expecting to be fobbed off. She did a few checks on me, including blood pressure and a breath test. In the end she prescribed me some antibiotics and steroids to help. I need to go back if it persists as I may have asthma.

Seem to be over the cold itself finally but think I've torn some muscles on the left hand side of my chest :( bit of a dilemma as if I took it easy and called in sick for the shift at work later I'd probably be fine for the shift tomorrow but going in today is probably going to undo any progress upto now in resting it - meaning I'll be in pretty much the same place tomorrow but with sickness going around I'm the only one available to run the shift so if I phone in sick they'll have to cancel the whole shift :s

I'm at work now - taking it as easy as I can but down to just me and one other person.

Bit annoying as its close to mending but won't take much to set it back to square one.

EDIT: He has just told me his GF is really sick with the "Aussie" flu... really don't need that.

God knows what I've contracted, had something before Xmas which cleared up, but last weekend I just woke up in a coughing splutter and been naff all week.

Similar experience Friday night but ended up with mucus coming out of my eyes and now I look like I'm out of the walking dead because my eyes have been blood shot for two days :p Not to mention I've been extremely acidity this week.

Oh well, it's not terrible, it's just when you get no sleep it's bad for me

Nothing in the Kronos household though as a rule I tend not to get colds. But when this sort of thing is doing the rounds along with the flu it can be a worry time for me and the good lady who has COPD with only 35% lung capacity now so anything that might affect her health is rather dangerous.

I've managed to dodge catching a cold, not had one since about last September ish. Even though everywhere I been lately there has been a sharp influx of dirty people coughing everywhere without covering their mouth which I find highly disgusting and offensive.

Well I'm ill. Had it since Friday now no sign of getting much better but it seems to be a normal winter cold not the flu. It's confined to my head and chest with abit of a fever.

Hopefully I'm getting over the worst of it as I'm back working tomorrow

Welp, think I only just survived death by man flu.
Rarely get colds, but this one really kicked in.
Got so bad Friday, that when I got in I crawled into my pit for a couple of hours with intentions of waking for food later on (hadn't eaten since Thursday).
Ended up saying in my pit until Sunday morning. Glad I put phone into airplane mode for peace & quiet.

Feel bit better than I did, but still spluttering a fair bit, headache & aching joints.
