A few months ago now , I was sitting in my dads car in asda car park when a man mistook the car for his own car and put his shopping in the boot then realised his car was three cars away.

Did this years ago, my brother was picking me up after work in his Escort, was almost sat in the passenger seat when I realised I had absolutely no idea who was sat there in the drivers seat.

My brother was sat in his Escort opposite ****ing himself laughing.

Not myself - but I've seen people do it - a colleague was being picked up after work and got into someone's car which was identical to the one that normal picks her up as it drew to a halt outside - was a total stranger.

Recently went to try and get in another car identical to mine (White Mk3 Focus - so common as anything), only when the door handle didn't open and I tried the unlock button again that I realised mine was parked 2 rows and 2 spaces diagonally across.

Going back some years.. we'd stopped off and I was waiting for a couple of friends to finish ******* about and get back in the car. Instead watched them run away from their antics and get in the back of some random guys car.. some get away :) in their defence it was dark and it was just another Ford escort.

I've done it to an old car of the gf. When parking I even joked that we're next to an identical car, so I only have myself to blame when we returned. I felt dumb pulling away on the door handle of the other car, thinking the door was sticking, while she was stood the other side of her car wondering what i was doing...

Did with my insight and totally freaked out when I saw the stoved in door... then realised it wasn’t mine. Relief!

Pretty rare for same colour in the same work car park when only 200 are in the UK.

I have only ever seen 1 other car like mine in the same colour in the same body kit in the 2 years that i've had it and I wasn't driving that day so no….never ever have mistaken other cars for mine.

When I had a Diablo Red 306 I did this once in a motorway services car park.

It's probably happened at work quite often (but not to me). When most of the car park is a single brand it's probably inevitable!
