Does anyone actually feel that he was a real threat after the second punch though? (or after the first one?). I think it's excessive because putting someone down for good isn't the same as neutralising a rowdy drunk outside of a club (which is what he's paid for, not protecting the public from drunks).

Nah he wasn't, I also get the impression that the bouncer had other things on his mind. Like the big crowd. So from his perspective it might have been as simple as bloody hell this trouble maker is back, without really noticing or giving much though as to what kind of condition he is in.

Kid had ample opportunity to stay down, walk away. Pretty sure his mates even tried to drag him away.

Kid made bad choices.

Can you really make choices when so drunk.

Do we even know how drunk the kid was? Could have been wasted. Could have been sober. Could have been on other things.

He seemed pretty handy at the beginning when him and the bouncer came out of the group him swinging uppercuts.

Too many people blame drink for their actions, oh I didn't mean to cheat it didn't mean anything I was drunk etc etc.

bouncers job ? when **** kicks off stop it .. he did that job ..
now why did he hit him 3 times ? 1: he kept coming 2:when a mob of drunk kids(18-25) see this they lose there nerve
except for that one ..lol and he was dealt with ..
it's like a pack style aggression .. if you look in the back the women are the worst ..

I must have been in thousands of nights out in a multitude of countries but I can only remember 1 or 2 occasions where a bouncer has had to get even remotely physical with someone.

I know a few bouncers, they all tell me that what they want on a shift is no dramas and a few birds to chat up. They definitely don't want fights.

You get paid the same if you stand there chatting to women all night or you go home covered yours/someone elses blood, you'll always get the odd one who thinks it's all about rioting every shift just like you get prats in any job but 99% of us want a quiet night, a beer after shift and to go home in one piece.

Getting that drunk was the bad choice.

Remember being ****ed isn't a valid defence if you do something illegal. Therefore it shouldn't be a defence for trying to start a fight either.

I know it's not a valid defence. So your judged on the initial choice of getting drunk?

Let's face it at that age people are just following the herd, don't have a good understanding of consequences and then add alcohol to that and you have a walking time bomb.

The drunk guy has to accept personal responsibility for getting drunk, and the consequences of repeatedly acting aggressively towards the bouncer, even if he has no recollection or had severely impaired judgement as a result of the drink.

We can't allow people to completely eschew personal responsibility for their actions, although society these days says it's always someone else's fault.

You put that forcefield on your door yet?

Yes.

Imagine you're a juror. I'm the defendant. I freely admit that I stole a car, drove it around for a while and then set it on fire. My sole defence is that I was very drunk. Am I guilty or not guilty of stealing the car and setting it on fire?

They probably want nice weather too. The bouncers I've spoken with do. Who wants to be on the doors in cold rain?

They didn't all want "a few birds to chat up", though, especially the women. By chance, a fair few of the bouncers I've spoken with were women.

Ha, well the ones I know in person are blokes, and birds to chat up was almost considered an essential part of the role :p

Not enough force imo. Police need to have more power.

Not talking totalitarianism here but the police should be respected and almost feared.

Even if your totally incompacitated. You can operate while blindly drunk and have no recollection of it. Maybe at the time you still know what your doing and you have a blackout the next day. Tricky one.
