Spec me... £50k (ish) budget

Not that it matters, but if I don't drive like a complete muppet I get 29 MPG which was rather surprising.

What's it like to own? I'm considering one towards the summertime I think, have you had any problems? anything to look out for - I'll be looking for one that's around 6-12 months old. Any advice? :)

I'd say go for either a 911 (997) or Mini GP 2.

Unless my trading skyrockets more than I think it will... I'm not going to go Porsche this time round. That will be next though, I want a 991 GT3.

I have been eyeing them up again though, i absolutely adore this colour combo... lava orange is great too:

I've also been eyeing Aston's today... it would have to be a V12, but I will be able to stretch the budget to this:

This colour combo is pretty and it's a manual, but I'd like to try for a newer car with the higher BHP:

It's a bit more special than a M4 CP or C63S.

Lotus Exige S is high on my list... I'd really like a CUP but they seem absurdly overpriced compared to the standard model.

Can't see anything else on pistonheads that really takes my fancy or I can justify... this is wonderfully beautiful, but I can foresee it being a money pit:

If you have a 530d for mileage then I don’t see the point of most of the 4 seater cars in your list. They are a jack of all trades.

I'm almost certain you can get a 997 gen for under 50k.... What are we now talking about a 991 GT3 lol

What about 5 different colours of C4 Cactus?

I think you’d need to stretch the budget and get one for every day of the week.

The exige would be the obvious track focused road car to go for. If you want a big GT then the DB9 or Maserati granturismo would be more the thing to go for. Especially if you want to get used to the running costs of a Ferrari!

Just spotted this

911 (only because I'm planning to buy a GT3 as my next car after this one and don't feel like the standard one)

Won't getting a standard 911 make you appreciate something like a GT3 even more?

Doesn't seem right to jump jump into a GT3 without experiencing. At least one or two of the "lesser" models first.

Is the budget 85k or 50k? Do you want a 4 door saloon with a practical boot or a racing car? Who knows?

I don't need practical... I already have practical as I'm going to keep the 530d... none of my suggestions have had 4 doors ;)

My dream cars are:
1. Ferrari 812
2. 911 GT3 (991)
3. Radical SR8 / SR3

Exige is something I've wanted since I first sat in one about 10 years ago... no as high on my list as the others, but it would be fun to own and experience for 1-2 years and it's depreciation rate is relatively low... so it wouldn't be a huge waste of money either.

C63S Coupe is a car I really enjoy and the engine and noise put a smile on my face every time I drove the C63 (non-S) saloon I had for 3 months. The handling is pretty good too, even though you can feel the weight.

M4 Comp Pack is another car that really excites me, the handling is fantastic for the type of car... the engine is a little bit of a let down though as I still think the NA V8 was better.

I've always liked Astons too and would like to own one at some point... it would have to be the V12 though, not the V8.

Vantage V12 seems a bit smaller and sportier than the DB9.

I've had a 987.2 S 3.4 and have a 981.1 S 3.4... while the 911 is a bit different - the jump to the 3.8 400bhp C4S isn't big enough for my liking. The 981.1 will be going.

V12V is much sportier, but you're suggesting 4 seat coupes in the C63 and M4, so the DB9 sort of fits there. Perhaps a vanquish is more hardcore... I'm biased as I think the DB9 is one of the best looking cars ever produced, although the V12V isn't far behind. The DB9 also fits the V12 requirement. You'd save £25k buying a DB9 over a V12V if you're desperate for a V12 with a manual transmission.

It's difficult to know what to suggest as I think you're after track focused, which makes the Exige top of the pile.
