Have you ever mistaken someone else for your own car?

I took two "Lady Friends" to Cinderella's nightclub (Northampton). When we came out the multi-story car park was so dark you literally couldn't make out what car from what.
We a;; went along row by row "feeling the shape" of the front of the bonnets looking for a Capri.
We found one and we got in it.
I immediately thought "I don't remember sliding the seat back" (I'm a short-arse.)
Put the key in and started it up and that's when the penny dropped. It only had half an engine. Mine was a 3.0s and this felt like a 1.6s.
Got out and found mine a few rows back.

Your key started another car?

I did it once but luckily it wasn't as embarrassing as hopping in someone else's car. I had a blue Focus and I'd parked up in a multi storey car park in Basingstoke's shopping centre then went off to do my thing. Came back an hour or so later to see the car with its fuel flap missing which both concerned and enraged me. Took a quick look around the car and everything else looked ok but it was only when I tried to open the locks with my keyfob and it didn't work that I checked the number plate and realised it wasn't my car.

Turns out I was on level 4 whereas I'd parked my car on level 3. I know a blue Focus isn't exactly an uncommon car, but the chances of an identical shape and colour being parked in the exact same space but on a different level have got to be fairly slim :)

A friend who owns a black Civic sat in someone else's identical black Civic, who happened to have left the doors unlocked. Then spent about 15 minutes trying to get it started before realizing it wasn't his :p

When I owned my octavia an old lady got in the back and said "thanks love". I burst out laughing and she got out rather embarrassed. To be fair to her it was black and looked like a taxi minus the vRS bits.

That probably happens to every Prius driver in any city.

You 'came back' to that?

Is that why they've all got their lights on?

What you really mean is that you had a specific meet up with other owners of the same model.
Nope, they came out 5 min after me, didn't know them before... Now, I know them. lol
