I have noticed a strange occurrence in main stream Supermarkets of late. Sainsburys, Tesco, Morrisons, M&S, Waitrose have all stopped selling own brand Mince Beef Pies.

Its weird and I wonder why.

Like with "Supersize Me", it didn't put me off ready meals, but I eat far less of them than I used too.

Like fast food, they are not exactly toxic, but I wouldn't want them as part of my staple eitherI have always felt that the meat you get in a ready meal or cheap pie is going to be the bits of the animal that are left over after all the more profitable cuts have been sold off seperatly.

It will be nutritious enough, but if you were cooking at home, it would be the bits that you would trim off and give to the Dog...

Frey bentos still in the UK?

Ah Frey Bentos, I remember these fondly from my uni days. I still wonder how the hell the board room discussion went when the new guy rocked up with "Guys, lets shove a pie in a tin!".

I suppose it could have been a case of "Hey Jerry, remember that time I joked about shoving pies in tins in a management meeting.....and then they did it?"
