It's my son's 13th coming up soon and I'm unsure what to get him. He loves drawing and doing pixel art, as well as gaming and computers.

With Christmas just gone though, they got a PS4 which they wanted and they have an XBOX One, and my 10yr old son got a sega megadrive emulator in Dec for his birthday, so they have all the pieces they want at the moment... he was looking at the Steam controller as he has a PC of his own as well, and the Steam Link, but it gets **** reviews for lag, so fear it'd just be a waste.

So what do you buy a 13yr old in this situation?

My 10yr old just spent his christmas and birthday money on ETC, so has a wallet with that on it, could get him a Coinbase account with 200quid in lol but think he'd prefer something physical :P

Pc peripherals? How about an elgato capture card so he can capture 1080p60 from his consoles and edit it on his pc.

I'd go with something long term or something that involves getting out the house, sounds like he already has everything he requires indoors.

Pretty awesome when you don't know what to buy your own son.... Especially at that age, must be all sorts he would want

A book on the social mores of the modern feminist, at thirteen he will soon need to be aware that touching a girl's knee, sharing a "sexting" photo on Facebook, or even making naughty suggestions could affect his wealth and reputation in later life, possibly even as an octogenarian ;)

As much as I agree I doubt it will be ever used. When it snowed a few weeks ago on a Sunday there were almost no kids out in the snow in the local park. In fact I barely saw a snowman or anything anywhere. Sad that I was a kid only 15-20 years ago and in that time kids don't go outside.

Me and girlfriend were one of the very few playing in the snow.

Are you sure its not just a reflection of your area? If it snows here there are kids everywhere playing in the snow, sleds come out from their cobwebbed locales in the sheds and everyone has a jolly good laugh

But seriously any kid would love a capture card, they spend their lives watching youtube and twitch.. to be able to stream in high quality is often their dream. You could even get them a cheap amazon greenscreen and a web-cam.

My daughter is 9 and is asking if I'll let her ride her bike to her grandparents. It's only a 5 minute bike ride away but it involves crossing 2 busy roads and I'm terrified.

I've no idea how old she should be before going out on her own. She's never played out in the street and, although incredibly bright, she doesn't have he street smarts yet

Possibly. It's quite an affluent, so maybe they have all the indoor toys I dunno . But it's a big town so I was taken back.
Good to hear it isn' s everywhere.
