I'm amazed such a stupid thing is allowed to happen.
Well there have been TV programmes about severely disabled people celebrating the fact that they have been able to procreate, despite the high probability of passing on their condition(s).

Maybe I'm alone, but I would hate my parents for knowingly conceiving me with a high risk of a debilitating, life-changing disease or syndrome.

Great thread, OP.

People with hereditary diseases should not be allowed to reproduce and should be sterilized.

One day we'll cure those diseases. It might be one of the people with the disease that cures it. They might then go on to cure other diseases. Or not, if their parents were sterilized.

James O'Brien is a fair and unbiased broadcaster who always allows a different opinion to be heard and never ever cuts people off when they point out he's made a factual error.

We don't need to cure the disease, in one generation the disease is wiped out.

There are thousands of children available for adoption, im not saying no children/bad parents just no biological children. I consider it inhuman to produce offspring knowing they will be born with such a condition.

It doesn't work like that. You can try eugenics to eradicate hereditary diseases but then in a few generations it can just spring up again. Nature just doesn't work that way.

The greatest threat to civil liberties comes from the left's identity politics which is utterly obsessed with racism, gender and sexuality.

@TallPaul1878

Actually genetic screening could get rid of a lot of the recessive and generation skipping stuff.

There are ethical issues around it however which are unpalatable in the current social climate.

There is also the chance of random mutations bringing it all back like you say.

Haha, he is the worst type of radio presenter. Only lets people on if they agree with him, or if they don't agree with him he'll get really awful callers on so he can 'destroy' them for lazy videos on the LBC website. Try talk radio instead, Mike Graham next week at 10am.
