Coral of the story? Don't eBay drunk!

Well, nothing to report - all OK, and wafting in comfort. The only downside is no Bluetooth option that works with my 'phone, so for now I'm on the rather imperfect solution of an FM transmitter.
Not the end of the world though! Average of 29MPG so far, 50/50 town and motorway.
 
Aaaand it broke (well, already was but turned out to be something I couldn't fix).

The parking switch (one of them, there's two) was broken - meaning the car knew it was in park (from the one working switch) but the key wasn't released from the ignition... :p
Thankfully the dealer is covering all costs - the part is over £1000 alone. Ouch!

Currently going through exactly the same situation with a module in the steering column of my Audi. Entire column has to be replaced just to change one tiny bit of circuit board, part has to come from Germany etc etc. Utterly ridiculous.

He's alright, not got a massive ego like many similar channels. He's not the most charismatic YouTuber though, to be fair.

The Phaeton production line video is another one well worth watching. So quiet and (relatively) serene for somewhere doing engineering!
 
I really like the phaeton as they were anonymous as most people won't know what they were but were built very well. I am partial to an old barge but the bork level on them is too high for my liking (and I have a old S class!), good luck and I am looking forward to following this thread.

There was one dumped by the side of the road near me recently, I am guessing it had a major failure so they just left it!
 
Quick update - all is well for now, it's back with a new shifter. The original batteries are a little tired, so I'm swapped out the starter battery first, followed by the (much larger and more expensive) auxiliary battery at a later date.
In the cold weather it occasionally needed to draw on the auxiliary battery for a 'kick' when starting, so it's time.

Apart from that, all seems well - everything still works and it's fantastic for longer motorway trips.

How do you know that it's drawing from the aux battery? Sounds a very clever system though!
