The Grand Tour

The Jag episode was good, not the jaw achingly funny episode that some suggested, but one the best yet. Wast that effectively a special, or is that still to come? This season has come a long way compared to the last, but its still not anything different to the old show, which is a shame, i would have hoped for the higher budget to lead to something more. But to be fair, theres only so much that can be done.

But the "old show" is gone, the BBC murdered it.

You mean Jeremy Clarkson "murdered it" when he decided to punch one of the staff. That stuff typically will get a man fired.

In any case, IMO, the Le Blanc Top Gear is better and funnier than the Grand Tour has been. The Chris Evans series was poor, but it has found its feet since.

I couldn’t stomach all of season 1 and I’ve been hoping season 2 would be better. Am I right in thinking that this isn’t a car show? It’s 3 old men driving around making scripted ‘jokes’. I always wondered if an Aventador could fit down a narrow street, this show cleared that up. Why are they going to chess museums? Why are they bleating on about the hotel?

The studio parts are still absolutely awful too.

Why does the track have a gravel section?

Does it get better?

Edit: the hill climb section at the end was entertaining. More of that please

But you are absolutely right mate, it is not a car show, they've said it themselves. It's effectively a show about three middle aged men, bickering, falling over and catching fire, and it happens to feature cars and occasionally they do car stuff.

Those three middle aged men make the show, not the cars, everyone and their grandma does car shows these days, you wanna watch a proper car show there is plenty out there, but let us boring lot enjoy some of this elegant fireball of cocking about.

As much as I enjoyed the old show and the new show, even I can agree that was a bit of a dick move

The latest season of Top Gear was much better than this season of The Grand Tour.

Le Blanc and Harris (especially Harris) are miles better than these 3 who are just a bit cringe now.

BBC presenters have done much, much worse (and had it swept under the carpet for decades)...

The new Top Gear is just soulless and lacks most of the humor the old crew had. That's reflected in the ratings, which went off a cliff. So it may not last much longer.

Top gear hasn’t been a car show for 10 years. I think we have to get over that fact, and look at it as a entertaining show, which the grand tour wasn’t in series 1.

Massive strides have been made in series 2,But it’s no better than the old meh episodes of top gear, which given the budget and freedom, is why they are getting criticised a little.

It would be interesting to see TGT’S ratings.

It doesn't surprise me that you're not enjoying them if you're missing the (rather simple) jokes like that.
I wasn't missing any 'jokes', it's just more scripted **** that isn't entertaining in the slightest.

Maybe I don't enjoy it because almost all of the 'humor' in it is scripted and they're terrible at acting or maybe it's because I find Hammond to be the most annoying try-hard on the planet.

The clips I've seen of them messing about in the snow in the Jags looked genuinely funny because it wasn't all planned out and scripted, they were just rolling with it.

EDIT: I'm 10 mins into the 2nd episode and it's already a vast improvement on the first.

So you understood why they went to the chess museum, but then pretended not to so as to moan about the show?
Not at all. I was questioning it because it was completely ******* unfunny and stupid.

Just finished Episode 2 and it was infinitely better than the 1st

To me that's not how it came over is all. You were asking why, as if you didn't know why they went there... when the reason was part of the joke... If you'd said 'The whole chess museum thing just wasn't funny' I'd have then assume you didn't find it funny. Maybe I'm too literal in thinking people mean what they type/post?
