M.2 worth it over SSD?

Currently have a 1TB SSD with Windows and my games on it.

Got an upgrade itch but don't fancy paying DDR4 prices for a full new rig. How about an M.2? Just for the OS. Would I notice a big difference over my SSD? And is it easy to transfer Win 10 to the M.2 while keeping steam and everything else on the SSD?

well i have a normal hd and an m.2 , the m.2 has just with my windows and programs on it and steam i have installed on my m.2 aswell but the steam games are installed on my normal hd its pretty simple to do

It’s really not worth it. I upgraded and honestly it’s one of the least bang for buck upgrades I’ve made.
Is there any "bang for buck" experiences in PC building at the moment lol. I've saved up a bunch of money over the past 2 years for PC but I just can't justify a new CPU (Because of mem costs). Ended up buying a Rift and gaming wheel.

The M.2 in my laptop boots far more quickly than any normal SSD drive I've owned. But apart from that obvious difference I'm not sure it's worth it.

Get a small SSD for OS and progs, and a regular platter hard drive for games. I'd say the WD Black is worth the extra over a normal HD as I can tell the difference in game loading.

its personal preference tbh , also depends on what m.2 you go for as some have the same read and write speeds as ssd and others double or triple the speeds so yeah m.2 is nice but if its just a normal 1 like the write and read speeds of your ssd its a bit of waste as your ssd will do the same , Samsung are 1 i know the read and write speeds of the m.2 are very fast and faster than ssd also depends on your budget
