Golf R Estate Vs BMW 335D touring

you could just steal a golf r instead which is free, then when someone steals it from you get the 335d, that way you have minimal loses :)

Yea.

Golf Rs are basically public vehicles at this point. Like bicycles in Cambridge.

Just leave it unlocked at the station, then steal a different one on the way back.

Volkswagen does mean 'peoples car' after all.

LOL

Very funny

Actually there are at least 2 Golf R's before you get to my house, one has modded exhausts and looks like a hooligan's dream. Also there's an R32 in resident garages too, so why would they take my estate?

Parts.

One night you might find that they take them all. Not quite the same, but a VW dealer in Scotland recently found 14 of his cars sat on bricks, with all the wheels stolen over night.

Hopefully not of course.

I've been watching reviews and or seems the inner exhaust on the R estate is fake, whereas it's real on the hatch. That's kind of disappointing.

have to watch out for those people that like to replicate aswell, i remember years ago seeing a decent amount of the smaller petrol models styled like the R version about lol

Was that just for one model year? I thought they had fixed it now. I think it's inexcusable though and wound honestly ruin the car for me (I can just about deal with the fake noise).
Imagine the ridicule if someone posted a thread about adding a completely fake exhaust :p

Welcome to every Mercedes and Audi since about 2012...and now BMW are joining the party too. Heck, even low powered Citroen, Ford and Vauxhall SUV’s and People Carriers now have square shaped twin chrome ‘exhaust’ exits.

At least the Golf R has the performance to pull it off.

Pulled up behind a base 520d SE the other day.

Exhaust either side which in the F10 subtly signified it was a 535 :(

Thought can it get any worse?

Then I found a 520d M Sport sporting the exhaust design which on the F10 meant you'd pulled up behind something very special, a 550i.

I’ve got a workmate with a slight sense of fun, he’s got an 06 plate e60 550i with a 520d boot badge.

It’s got what looks like at first glance an M5 quad exhaust though - which gives the game away - but the bodywork around the exhaust isn’t flared out like on the M5, is this how they should look Fox?

Edit: No, standard ones have twin not quad pipes.

Don’t think it’s a performance rear box as such, it’s remarkably quiet when he starts and drives it.

I really do hate this fake exhaust nonsense :(

But TBF, the original X5 3.0D could be ordered with fake tips, with the real ones pointing down behind the rear bumper..
