Spec me... £50k (ish) budget

noble M600

Don't think this interests me as much as I'd like it to.

Have to admit, for my road car... I kinda want the mod-cons.

Otherwise, looks like a great drivers car.

Also have known people who've owned older Nobles and they spent months being repaired and then blew up next time they went on circuit again.

I'd assume with something like the SR8 you'd only want to do test days anyway unless you book the track privately - on a normal track day you'd just be getting held up every 2 seconds by slower cars.

Yeah... although TD companies like RMA and Gold Track are pretty good for low volume of cars... it's only the really cheap ones you want to avoid.

For a radical, trailer and test day (rather than track day) is the way to go.
Have a look into the options around race series for the car too - you might find you soon want to go and race it, so it's better to start with the right spec/kit.
2nd hand is much more cost effective. Well maintained it'll be as good as a new one. New racing cars don't stay new for long!
Do consider that tracking any kind of car like this does involve a little more than just turning up and driving like you might with a road car. Regular spanner checks etc for safety a minimum.

who makes the engines in these?

The Radical?

The SR8 V8 is a pair of Hayabusa engines stuck together with gaffa tape (I jest, the engineering work is beautiful).

It's more like the heads are Suzuki and the bottom-end is Radical's own work.

The RXC is a Ford engine... but again, with some Radical tweaks.

So I had a nice day today.

The DB11 was great, really liked the car - even more than I thought I would - the engine is sublime, the car has a really good balance of handling, comfort and performance - perfect GT car. I want one.

Then the McLaren... blew my mind... I've driven some fast cars - but nothing comes close to that thing - it's in a whole different league.

I've made my mind up... I'm buying one... now just got to be a little patient... but I'm going to see if I can bring the buy date forward from March to Feb if possible... we'll see.

Get a DB9 as a runaround and the mclaren as a special occasion car. It’s amazing how little you have to spend to get into one at the moment. If you can afford the running costs, why not? Scratches both itches.

Yes, something like that is on my mind.

I love the McLaren, but I need to try the Ferrari first to make my mind up on which I want first... I'll probably grab the other later anyway.

Looks like wifey will be getting an M2. She's sold on that, even though I keep trying to push her towards the M4.

For my daily... I'm still looking at options. I've been having chats with the guy who supplied the Caterham... he offers a service where he maintains and stores cars, then transports and supports them on the day... so the Caterham and Radical could live with him and be properly taken care of - then I wouldn't have to worry about towing.

If I was going to tow, I'm looking at either a Panamera Turbo or M5.

If not going to tow... then I'd love an Aston or something... but the ageing interior and Volvo system of the older variants of the Aston would drive me crazy on a daily basis... I'd rather get a C63S or M4 with the uprated sound systems. If I can stretch the budget far enough, then DB11 V12 or the new V8 Vantage would be a great daily. The top-level sound system in the DB11 is a thing of beauty, as is the car...

It's a very fast hybrid and well reviewed as well personally I would try one out
Also I guess the fastest hybrid you can buy from the factory!

Depends if you want to keep it for a long time. A hybrid is a lot of expensive stuff to go wrong in future.

If I was looking for a car like that, there's no way I'd buy a hybrid. I'd rather have the old NSX.

Me too... at least the old NSX is a car I've always wanted... the new one is "meh".

I'm not sure i understand. If you are looking to tow then what use is a car not approved for towing?

Well... the manufacturers approve both of them for towing more than enough for what I need with a braked trailer... so much so, they are an official option on the configurators for both of those cars.

Over 2 tonne for both cars and the trailers I've seen are usually in the 750-900kg range and the heavier Radical is 1100kg... so both would suffice and be a good daily when not towing.

I like BMWs... but the Panamera has the steering feel of a typical Porsche and that's better than an M5... so leaning towards that, if required.

Other daily option would be a 991.1 GT3 (non-RS).

There is no tow option listed for the M5 configutor that I can see?

You'd need to make sure it has a plated towing weight I guess.

Unless i'm looking at the wrong M5, it's in the Optional Equipment section
