interested in getting this bad boy, but needs to have a VESA

It has Vesa 100mm.

Kinda surprised this wasn't about 30" in size with that resolution. Still it's a high refresh rate IPS and g-sync at a pretty reasonable price. The Asus rog 27" 2560x1440 165hz IPS for comparison is currently £750.

Picked one up for my race rig. I dont have room for three screens but wanted more immersion. Which at 34" this does really well. This has to be the first ultrawide i have tried that has has no bleed or pixel issues or any build issues at all. Ihe IPS panel seems very uniform, calibrated with a spyder 4 and 100% srgb was all fine. The main issue i find with any 144hz screen is finding a DP cable which will play ball had the same issue on my xb271hu. Gaming on the screen is a joy i can throw any game on and enjoy 100 - 144hz easy.
Now ok many complain about the 1080 aspect of this screen and if your main use is anything other then gaming then sure invest in a 1440p, but if your priority is games then i would suggest you give this screen a look. I have used it for browsing and while the screen is only 60 to 70 cm away from my face i cant complain about the text and image on the screen its still crisp and clear, sure 1440p is better, but you would be looking at nearly double the cost. When a 34" 21:9 1440p ips 144Hz screen comes out for sub 750 then ill look to upgrade. But dont be put off by the 1080 aspect it might just surprise you.

@nacho_man1 I've been debating picking this up or waiting for the LG 34GK950G which is 3440x1440. My rig is used 90% for gaming, but coming from a 27" 2560x1440 I'm worried going to 1080p is going to be rough especially with the amount of RPGs I play with all the in game books, texts, etc. to read. I've tried gaming this weekend on my 27" at 1080p, but I'm not sure that is a evaluation given it's not native.

No way would I have a 34" UW 1080p. That is far lower PPI than your 27" 1440p.
If you go 34" UW, it has to be 1440p.

Like many things with monitors, once you have something it's really difficult to let go of that something, but what you never had you don't miss. Normally I would say that a 34" 2560x1080 is fine for a gamer who has never owned anything other than a 1080P, but since you are used to 1440P I think you may well regret the purchase. The one good thing, though, is that you could use the 27" as a second and your main "work" monitor.

I definetly noticed the decreased PQ going from 1200 24" to 1080 24" in games. Plus jaggies are more noticeable.

yes you will notice a difference going from 1440 to 1080p however my usage is for my race rig only. Yes i browse sites on the 34" and is fine to do so. Its in no way a terrible experience. Yes i took a risk with the 34" knowing it was 1080 screen and my main screen being a xb271hu (27" 1440), but for my usage its great i am able to push the 144Hz in games and the ultra wide aspect fills my view just as i wanted. yes i would love a 34" 1440p ips 144Hz screen im just not interested in paying a grand for one. I am happy to stick with this for now and use my xb271hu till i feel the price is right for me to change it. Just so you know my usage is mostly assetto corsa, ets2, dirt rally , project cars 2 , doom , wolfenstein , elite dangerous and the like all of which i have tried and have been happy playing on the screen. Yes a 1440p will always be better its all about your expectations, if you are happy spending a grand for a 1440p then go for it.

Just set my 1440p to 1080 and text is no way as clear as on a native display and this is to expected. I would say though if when looking at the screen you could still be happy playing the games at 1080 also knowing that the text and graphics will appear clean and crisp then it might be worth looking in to the screen.
