Air conditioning is sexist

18c for me personally.

But seriously.. She blamed a cold on the AC? Maybe if its VERY poorly maintained it may have some nasties on there but they very rarely make you ill but it seems she's trying to use the temperature as a point its made her ill which makes her quite retarded.

Im glad i work out of a van at times when stuff like this comes up. No women to deal with except at home and she cant adjust the thermostat :D

I get the feeling some intern was chuckling to himself when he came up with the name for that video.

As someone who works in an office with broken AC and dozens of computers and monitors on 24/7 I can tell you that sitting at a desk for 9 hours with swamp ass is horrific.

Maybe the differences between men and women aren't just confined to feeling the cold. Maybe they're also better at their job, hence why they get paid more ;)

why doesnt this woman complain about something that affects most people.

like in the winter when everyone is dressed for the weather, you enter a shop and its boiling, your sweating to death in a few minutes and don't have the luxury of taking layers off.

why is it set up to make the staff comfortable at the expense of the customers

It isn't. It's set up to make the customers who complain the most comfortable at the expense of everyone else, including the staff. Staff generally don't want to work all day in a sweatbox and businesses generally don't want to spend any money on heating, let alone the amount required to heat a large area to 25+C despite large doors being opened very frequently to an outside that's <10C.

commuter trains are another example - typically on trains going into London during peak times all seats are full and plenty of people are standing, almost everyone is still wearing their coat... yet the heaters on the train are typically on full blast

Ignoring the sexism aspect of this story for one moment...

A common - and completely retarded - scenario we've all seen: heating is on full throttle on one side of the office and the windows are wide open a few feet away on the other... such wastefulness. All the energy used with complete abandon and sent straight out the window.

Then - and this is where I have some sympathy for the girl in the vid - the energy needlessly wasted super chilling the office to "cool" in the middle of summer. It's summer... we should be wearing less not trying to recreate winter.

So to some extent she's right ... inflexibility is causing us to waste vast amounts of energy heating and cooling areas incredibly inefficiently.

This is a problem that's bigger than sexism... it's a problem of being utterly irresponsible with our energy usage.

This is ridiculous. The most pleasant room temperature is 22°C. In bedrooms, 20°C would be all right ok.
Someone from the senior managers must explain to these women in offices how many damages they do, both to the environment and to their company.

The 20C in the bedroom surprised me. I wouldn't be able to sleep as I would need it to be lower, like 16C tops. That said, I dread my next stay on a hospital ward as I know they're kept warm around the clock.

I would be sweating buckets at 20 degrees trying to sleep as well. about 15/16 is best for sleeping and helping your body wind down.

What really?
As somebody who works in the industry it always amuses me when people are surprised to learn this :p

Women (usually) feel colder than they are due to genetics, people also percieve temperature differently as they age which somewhat corrects that. This is why most offices have a mix of older women and younger men, because they feel temperature similarly, if you mix young women and older men there's a legitimate danger they may fight over the thermostat lol.

Why do you keep typing this in loads of your posts? Isn't it easier to just type 2018?

It's a reference to the habit some prominent people have of telling us what year we're currently in right before or after throwing in some virtue singling comment in order to appear hip/progressive etc..

"It's [current year], [insert virtue signalling]"

@Pawnless Endgame you are incorrect.

There is a minimum requirement for temperature. That’s 13 if you’re doing physical work or 16C if you’re not.

Dealing with claims of “its too hot” every summer or “it’s too cold” every winter used to be a common occurrence in the NHS. Everyone wanted heating or AC, but no one was willing to do the simplest thing which is dress appropriately (where possible).
