What happened to the old off topic motors thread where we could ask silly little questions like this?

Anyway, my old e34 is going to be relegated out of the garage to the lawn as something else, soon to be revealed, is taking its sheltered spot. So I'm in need of a car cover which I have found varies from £70 to £400?!

Any recommndations on a reasonably priced one that isn't gonna crack and rip?

Thanks :)

I always thought car covers were a bad idea as any dirt or anything on the car constantly gets rubbed in to the paintwork?

There's no dirt on my cars, how dare you!?

Thanks flakgunna, have you used one of theirs before?

Sure fire way of ruining the paintwork!

You’d be far better off having it waxed professionally and give it an occasional rinse off if it’s standing for long periods.

Years ago I bought a cover from http://www.coveryourcar.co.uk/ for my MX5. It kept it in great condition and didn't do any damage to the paintwork, but you do have to make sure the car is clean before putting it on. Fine if it's a weekend car, I guess.

It will be standing for long periods and I have already got a nice layer of strong wax on it but just get scared of the rust potential which is why I was after a cover.

It's not a bad example at all, especially since the work I've been doing, plus I've got it booked in to a place in Nottingham who do custom exhausts to finally silence this beast!
