Hi,

I've been very privileged over the years to have the box room in my last and current property as a man cave where all my manly belongings, decor and gaming PC live

Sadly I will be losing it soon and will have to find another home for my PC, this has got me thinking, for those that havent had their own room, where the hell does your PC go!?

Some ideas have crossed my mind, sell up and go console but then I'll lose my Steam account, sell up and build a PC that connects to the TV and then I'll keep my Steam account but this will cost a lot as everything I have now is ATX and I'll need a smaller mobo/case GPU and with the cost of GPU's at the moment this simply isnt an option

I might be able to find space for it elsewhere in the house and buy a new smaller desk but what about the internet, It wont be connected straight to the router anymore so online gaming will never be the same? Also my son wont be able to resist destroying it.

First world problems and all that but what do others who dont have a dedicated room for their PC do I am open to ideas! o be honest I am very tempted to sell up for now, could do with the cash for house stuff but then I'll have to buy everything all over again.

Living room. But then we are spoilt with size... Living room is 8 metres by 5 metres, tv at one end, sofa about 1/2 - 2/3 of the way down, other sofa along the side and computer desk/reading area and wall covered in books is at the other end (wall of books on end opposite tv, computer desk etc on one side)
But as I say, we are spoilt for size, its a huge living room!

You could downsize the pc, build it into an NCase/Ghost S1 ITX size case, wall mount the display and find a suitable space. Remember cables can be fairly long so plenty of options to hide the box and have a minimal gaming nook.
 
Yeah thats a big room mine is no where near as big and downsizing the PC is going to cost me quite a bit, but if I have to do it then its something I'll need to look into
 
My next move to put a desk in the living room, and some more in a couple of the bedrooms as now we have a few kids doing homework and I need a desk again. I'll probably go SFF with a low end gaming card. Big monitor is a problem on small desks though.

I'm the same, when my son came along I downgraded mine into the diving room, it's a bit tight but we had an extension built for the kids as a play room and when they're bigger the PC will migrate in there (and possibly become a poor man's cinema room/lego exhibition lol).
 
I ran my whole business from my spare bedroom which also included my gaming pc.

My 2nd child came along, so I completely gutted my utility room and did it out with cat6 points, worktop, cupboards and room for my gaming pc

Not as comfortable out there without a nice comfy chair, as I now use a stool to reach the height of the worktop - but it is better than nothing.
 
I did have a desktop style ATX case a few years back which lived under the telly, fit full size components as i had a lot of spare stuff around back then so used it as a media center PC with a cast of Geforce 7600GT. While not ideal it could be a decent comprimise that could be an option? Also get a decent Wifi card with a proper antenna and internetz will be more or less fine. Never quite sure what people do for the mouse and keyboard when gaming in the living room though? some kind of tray on lap?
 
Can it hide away in the corner or under a table somewhere? You can then hook up a Steam Link via TV with a bit of networking.

Solves the problem of going smaller.

I have a lounge/diner so sit behind the TV at my desk and have enough room for the dining table as well. Other PC is kept in a converted garage at other end of garden and my missus uses the Steam Link so she doesn't have to go into the cold (unless she wants to play on the VR, then she has no choice).
 
Hide your PC in a cupboard and use a Steam link for gaming?

I'm lucky enough to have a 3m x 4m room for my man cave. The misses has a similar sized room to herself which she routinely offers up for ideas for games rooms for kids etc. So hopefully I should be able to keep mine for a while! :)
 
As others have said, keep the PC somewhere else in the house and use Steam link to connect to your TV. This way, you can keep your big case and use it from your living room just fine. Your mileage may vary if you're using wireless.
 
Only thing with Steam Link and TV gaming is KB and Mouse and 1080p 60hz, would much prefer a monitor but I wont have the room and having everything hidden away is appealing

If I make the move to a smaller case that fit in a TV cab will I just need to change the mobo and case IE how many ITX cases take full size gpus? need to read into it a bit more

Surprising number, but always check measurements.
Ncase M1 I have run a full length (reference) 1080.
Pretty sure Fractal Design Node 202 does, and this works will in the context of a tv unit:
