Losing my man cave :(

Only thing with Steam Link and TV gaming is KB and Mouse and 1080p 60hz, would much prefer a monitor but I wont have the room and having everything hidden away is appealing

If I make the move to a smaller case that fit in a TV cab will I just need to change the mobo and case IE how many ITX cases take full size gpus? need to read into it a bit more

Steam Link supports KB and Mouse and runs at 1080p 60fps - unless you're suggesting that's part of the problem :)

Don't get me wrong, it's not ideal, but you can pick up a steam link for £15 during sales. It's a cheap solution just to try.

A small form factor PC is obviously another solution, just costs more, but totally doable. Other option is just standard PC case hidden as best you can behind/in the TV unit or nearby cupboard.

I had a man cave until my daughter was born and then lost it. I have no problems with that. About to move so will get my man cave back plus a garage :D

Thanks for all the suggestions, I think what I'm going to do is measure up new desks and aim to keep my current PC as it is and potentially put the monitor on the wall

If that fails then a cabinet near the TV that can house my current PC, if that fails a new case that can fit current or new cabinet and lastly failing all of that, Steam Link with the PC in another location

Thanks again

Second bedroom was my man cave until my Son came along, then I was evicted to a small PC desk in the order of our bedroom...

9 years later we have an Office in the house which I can have my setup how I want it again

Desk on the upstairs hallway which is large/gallery job. Loads of space, but can cause problems if gaming late with people sleeping.

Planning on a garage, with office above.

I'm lucky I have a Man House :)

3 bedroom house all to myself, but I don't have a desktop only laptop so not an issue anyway. Consoles are in Living Room then the smallest bedroom is an office with desk and sofa in case I ever need it.

I do have a server and a NAS with a load of HDDs but I had the Loft floored and cat5e run up there, so they are up there out of the way.

Just out of interest, doesnt it get hot in the loft in the summer and cause issues with your storage setup? How much did the cat5 install cost is it just to loft from router location?

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £52.49 (includes shipping: £10.50)

I have one of these under my TV. takes a full size GPU and PSU, a couple HDDs and SSDs and can even put a DVD/bluray drive in there. So should get away with just changing the motherboard in your current system and re-use the rest assuming you can find an itx motherboard that works with your CPU.

Main downside is you can only use low profile CPU coolers. in my case I've got a 120mm AOI, but that can be a bit expensive.
its also a little bit longer than I'd like, Not terrible, but it overhangs the back of my TV unit a bit :p

It does get warm up there, but I have a fan for air circulation set on a timer, that operates in the warmer times to keep keep air moving which does keep the temps respectable.

I have 2 x Cat5e runs from the living room to the main bedroom, both ends terminated on standard backboxes. From the same location as these terminate upstairs (my wardrobe, which used to be the airing cupboard) I have another double run up into the attic. I only use one of each runs, the other is just in case. I then have one more run going from the main bedroom through into the office, I ran the cable through the boxing in used for the pipes, and through the smallest hole you can get a cat5e cable through and terminated that on a single backbox. So I have cabled internet in the living room, main bedroom, office and loft. All are gigabit and also allow me a wired AP on each level of the house.

Total cost was basically nothing really, the cat5e was left over runs from installs at work, 10m here, 20m there, the backboxes and keystones were picked up from ebay for about a tenner and the tools I have due to my profession (telecoms :)). For the ground floor to upstairs runs I used the hole left over from when Virgin was installed and they split from the living room to the bedroom. For the run to the loft, when I had my bathroom done and some lighting and electrics put in the loft I got the electrician to pull the cat5e for me and then I terminated it.

Sounds good, would like to do something similar soon thanks for the info

Anyone know of an ITX case that can take a 3 slot 330mm GPU? I'm pretty sure they dont exist from looking last night but I might have missed something

Dan case A4 is max 295mm, 2 slot
Ghost S1 is max 305mm long, 2 slot
Node 202 is max 310mm, 2 slot
Ncase M1 is max 317mm, 3 slot
Bitfenix phenom is max 330mm gpu, 2.5 slot - Close!
Enthoo EVOLV ITX is max 330mm gpu, 2.5 slot - Again close!
Cougar QBX is max 350mm gpu, and allegedly triple slot.... But I cant find any way to confirm this.

Now is your card actually triple slot, or is it more like 2.5 slot?

Sorry I should have said, its a 2.2 slot so 2.5 should cover it.

Thanks for the suggestions I will have a closer look shortly

No worries. Replied to your other thread as well with case volumes for the above ;)

Having used an Ncase M1 its a nice case, but for living room you may want a node 202.

I like the Node and love Fractal cases my last two have been Fractal but the 202 wont support my GPU as its only two slot expansion

Dont fancy an N1 as too much hassle importing it and pushes the price up for the change

Buying new kit seems a bit of a waste, I would just find a home for it somewhere. My desk is in the guest bedroom for example, which is fine because if we have guests staying then I'm not going to be sat at my computer outside working hours anyway. I've also recently put together another PC for my son from old bits in that room also.
At my dad's house we used to have the computer in the dining room. He's since reshuffled and it is now the living room.

Definitely wouldn't fancy having my setup in a loft due to the summer heat.
