How is he a clown? He’s one of the most logical and elequent speakers of any current MP. I would rather be led by someone as educated as JRM over the absoloute lunatics who are leading the asylum that is the modern Labour Party.
Logical if you agree with him! Otherwise he's just a tragic puppet of the Tory right. I'm not a labour voter I find the idea of either corbyn or Jrm leading the country really worrying. We all laugh at America for electing trump but we are only one leadership contest away from leaving ourselves with a similarly daft outcome following the next election!

My son was there, the trouble makers were not UWE students and did not have tickets. Once they started ranting Rees- Moog approached them, not many would be brave enough to do that, and tried to have a reasonable conversion to try and calm the situation, were they interested not in the slightest apparently.

Well if they werent even students of UWE, the whole narrative that Universities only allow left wing speech and are ostracizing centre and right wing viewpoints is rubbish then?

Agreed.

Seems pretty clear that he was holding the girl at a distance and then when the guy in the glasses raised his fist, his natural reaction was to raise his arm in defence, which was still against the girls neck.

These things usually start by accident. Everyone facing off mouthing off until accidentally nudges someone or treads on someone’s toe or farts a bit violently and then all hell breaks loose.

All this reminds be of My Uni days, back in the 1970's when we still had freedom of expression and all that goes with it.

Controversial speakers were routine.

We had Mary Whitehouse

We had David Irving (Yes really, David Irving!)

And you know what, There were no real hecklers, (There was one with David Irving but another student, Jewish as it happens, stood up and told him to STFU, so he did)

Nobody really tried to interrupt the proceedings, nobody took it upon themselves to try to stop the rest of us from listening to what these people had to say.

cant really see that happening in unis today somehow.

Im no great fan of these so called antifa types but this video https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/protesters-call-jacob-rees-mogg-1160554 is a better angle of "all" the balaclava clad protesters and how the shoving and scuffle actually started.

As I said Im no fan of these types but lets look at it objectively.

edit: OK hands up. I have just seen another clip on Sunday Politics and there does appear to be at least 6 balaclava clad idiots at the beginning. Not sure if the guy in the hat is one of them though.

What I quite like about him is that he acknowledges how his personal views upset and are at odds with many people but is also clear that the law takes precedence and he (apparently) has no desire to change it.

It's quite refreshing for a politician to say what they think despite knowing the media will attempt character assassination for it. Not a bad thing to have highly educated, articulate people in any party IMO.

People have this fantasy that freedom of speech has been abolished. It’s bizarre.

Although mainstream papers are now running the story of the dream team of Mogg, Boris and Gove overthrowing May to ensure the people get the hard Brexit we all voted for. As soon as Mogg becomes leader we walk from the brexit negotiations and no implementation period after March 2019.

I also see this week Mogg attended a meeting for a group who want to repatronate black people to the country of their parents origin.

No idea what this country is coming to.
