Last car wrap thread I can find from here is 2013, so time for a new one!

I'm thinking of ordering a new car (Up! GTi) and considering getting it wrapped early in it's life to protect the paint. I love matte cars, so likely to order it in red with black roof, and then go for matte (but keep roof gloss black).

For a small car like an Up, how much am I looking to pay, how long would a company need to keep my car, and anyone want to put forward some recomendations near Didcot area? (ish, if I have to drive further and it's worth it I will)

Really depends on what you want.

Small car around £800 for an ok job.

£1500 for a decent job.

Be warned, the cheap ones won't use knifeless tape. And they will leave knife marks on the paint

What's the point, it's a tiny little car, who cares about lifespan of the paint- if you want to save a packet, buy second hand, because only mugs buy new cars. You'll save money second hand, you won't be fussed about paint, won't have to spend £1500 on wrapping, and it's already depreciated.

This.

Spending over a grand just to try and keep the paint finish on a £14k makes no sense to me.

Just buy the thing and drive it! Too many folk wasting time getting paranoid about dents and blemishes these days IMO!

You don't need to notify anyone with a wrap, it's just a sticker, not a mod.

Why don't you plastidip it for £300? maybe less with an Up.
If you wrap the entire thing then you need to notify them that you have. Also most insurance companies will not be overly happy with this "sticker".

When I had my Clio wrapped, direct line said they would cancel my insurance if I didn't send proof of removal within 14days.
So I sold my car lol

I know, I couldn't believe my ears when I called to declare it.
They told me that if I crashed they would invalidate my cover....

damn does that annoy me, sure if it's something that's potentially dangerous or adds significant chance of getting the car nicked, but seriously.

it's almost like a car isn't something you own but they do.....

Why not get the car, get it detailed/mopped to get the paint pristine and then look at decent ceramic coating for it?

Cost less than a wrap and will really help protect the paint.
