GPU prices go boom

Pulse ITX 570 in stock again, get em while they are hot.

With literally 100% markup from Overclockers.

Thats never just miners.

GPU pricing seems to have increased so the profit isn't as transparent as you might think. Gibbo's comment in the Motoring Meet topic was
...in the past 30 days our cost on a 1080Ti is now $120 than they were before new year and some even more,
Not denying that there may be some gouging but it's not all one sided.

However,another issue:

http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/videocard/

Look at the top 10 Nvidia cards. They are at at best GTX970/GTX1060 level.

The GTX1070 is still below the GTX970 and the GTX970 was in the top 3 in that list in 2015/2016 since it sold loads.

That would explain why companies are not pushing graphics. The improvement in an average or median gaming PC is not enough.
That and the 70% of steam users still on 1920 x 1080 resolution. I've not upgraded my monitor for around 8 years, and with the prices at the moment if my monitor did fail, I would just replace it with like for like.

The biggest switch seems to be people moving from 1080p to dirt cheap larger TV's at 768p resolution. Probally kids and old nerds playing Indie pixel games lol.

Yep,and going from that 768p to 1080p is a doubling of resolution,so if they got a GTX1060 from say a GTX760,it means the resolution increase has accounted for the improvement in graphics performance.

This is why the slowing down of graphics performance improvements under £300 has an effect,as getting a better monitor simply accounts for the improvement.

Not sure which I am more happy to see:

- retailers having to take back all these unwanted GPUs knowing that they will have to sell them for a lot cheaper and maybe even at a loss

or

- miners trying to return used GPUs before they have to sell them on the likes of ebay for a lot less than what they originally paid

:D :)

Amazing the after all this 'collapse' that BTC is back to where it was only 3 months ago and still up 6-7x year on year. Madness. I would call it a correction, not its death.

I would agree - The crash is likely to stall around $4000

I do find it funny though, the amount of people I've read say "Yes it's a crash, but it's always crashed around this time of the year" - But don't take into account, Bitcoin has never crashed this badly before (Of course it's never been that high before either, but the crash percentage wise is maddening, and to say that it is normal seems a bit strange to me).

^ Not directed at you Scramz, just talking out loud - I think I saw a tweet from Mr McAfee

Just realised I've taken this a little off topic - So...

GPU prices eh? What the hell right? :p
