YouTube star Logan Paul uploads a monetised video of a suicide victim to "raise awareness"

Yeah but if your local news station just wound up showing that on the 6 o’clock news with the reporter being a prat there would be hell to pay.

There’s nothing wrong with making people aware of suicide, but there’s a ways and means to go about it, particularly when you know a vast amount of your audience are barely at an age to even understand it.

Class system has little to do with anything, in fact the more wealth and power you have the less likely you are to care what people think and have a balanced sense of perspective.

Has there ever been a point in history where being a total douche nozzle, toolbag has been so lucrative?

I'm thinking court jester or national idiot comedian.... YouTube just promotes idiots to new levels of infamy. If he doesn't kill himself by 30, I wonder what he's gonna think about himself looking back?

World famous for basically being the biggest idiot on earth in the early 21st century.

Court jester was a very skilled job and definitely not "being a total douche nozzle, toolbag". It was a cross between a stand-up comic and a politician, with considerable political knowledge required to do the job well. So not at all like Youtube.

If he doesn't kill himself by 30, he'll probably look back and think "Wooohooo, I am rich!"

There's a huge amount of really good content on Youtube...but none of it is anywhere near as commercially successful as the "total douche nozzle, toolbag" stuff. Which is sad. A lot of it doesn't cover its own costs, with the presenters relying on patronage and/or merchandise to buy the time away from paid work to make the content. Then there's the stuff that people make without any expectation of making any money from it, some of which is superb.

The company announced today that it will not move forward with a planned YouTube Red movie that Paul was supposed to star in at this time as the project is on hold. The Thinning: New World Order was supposed to be the sequel to Paul’s 2016 YouTube Red movie, The Thinning. A YouTube representative also confirmed to Polygon he is removed from Google’s top tier preferred ad program.

“In light of recent events, we have decided to remove Logan Paul’s channels from Google Preferred,” a YouTube representative said. Additionally, we will not feature Logan in season 4 of ‘Foursome’ and his new Originals are on hold.

seemed rather coincdental that FacebookYouTube also making announcements of a more family friendly platform, with less commercial advertising,
they both need to have plausible deniability, when the legislative wave starts to roll.

I heard he was going to lose his channel yet there he was again trending, something about suicide.

Lost a lot of respect for YouTube and Google over this, this should have been dealt with better.

The bloke is a cretin. There are people out there performing miracles and changing lives, IE: Doctors etc yet don't get to live like this guy does.
End of the day no matter how much money he has he can't change that deplorable face he has.

I don't begrudge people like this. Sure there are a thousand other professions and careers that add more value to society than the 'work' that this guy does.

However the market dictates on his $ value and who is really the fool here? The guy who takes advantage of it or the millions of drones that press the subscribe button and watch the stuff this guy churns out?

Comes to show in todays generation being an TV celebrity or an Entertainmenter pays a lot more than an Doctor who brings real value to the world.

Yes, unfortunately :/

Given the chance, a lot of us would like to have the opportunity, the stage and the money that he has access to.

The fact that his content is cringe worthy and irrelevant to me might be just a generational thing. The fact is millions of people DO like his stuff, there is talent in the ability to self promote yourself and be entertaining.

The growth of the a youtube celebrity culture is no different to the Kardashians etc.

Man is a complete ***** but then that seems to be what kids want to watch these days. Whenever a "youtube" personality with millions of followers gets in trouble I like to see what they are like and 90% of them are utter ***** who don't have an ounce of wit or intelligence to their content. That being said, its a free world and they are welcome to do as their please within the law. People who think they should be banner are the same idiots that think anyone who doesn't agree with their "open" world view should be censored.

I agree - in an ideal world, I'd love to. But it's more to do with who he is.

I'd love to be an entertainer, but benefitting from the misery of others is the problem I have with Logan. He's everything I hate about 'Lads' and has gotten away with it all. Not even a slap on the wrists.

It's people like Generation Z who like him, in other words children who have no wisdom or any idea whatsoever.

There’s a documentary I watched on Netflix called Only The dead about the Iraq war. Now that is pretty disturbing and very graphic. How Come that is deemed acceptable?

How old are you? 12?

Surely you know the difference here.

I don't watch him or have any interest in him, people are just feigning out rage because somene who's basically an idiot is making a lot of money out of content which is basically trash. Maybe just focus on your own life and don't worry about him.

I wish I could ignore him. YouTube promote morons like this guy in the content they spam me with. If they allowed me to filter our his content (and similar drivel) from my profile, it would a lot easier to ignore him, and find content I'm actually interested in.

YouTube is drowning in mediocre content.
