i haven’t got the processor yet, I’m still on the hunt, but I already have the motherboard, ram, so will only need a gpu pretty much to go with it, don’t ask me my intentions as I haven’t decided yet lol, I’m just wanting to build a nice decent system based on the Am1 platform.

Actually there is this on gum brand new sealed for £85.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £148.69 (includes shipping: £8.70)

I’m not trying to buy everything at once, but I am debating between building my pc system as best I can for £90 this weekend or buying an old i7 quad with dedicated gpu laptop for £90 from MM, not I’m not specifically looking at big performance, just a decent all rounder.

I am trying to get hold of the faster Athlon processor, but don’t like the idea of paying over £60 for it from what I’ve been seeing.

I like the odds & sods ha, have done for the last couple years at least, the AM1 board was brand new and £10 and itx, so couldn’t say no.

I could pay £200 or £250 for a mid range gaming build based round an 1155 i5 3*** with a gtx 660 for example or an fx 6 or 8 core, but I don’t really have the time to put them to use to justify the costs, I don’t even Xbox game as much now, but as a hobbie and interests for older tech as well as new and to build, I like going about it this way, obviously I’m used to easier optioned stuff that I can easily get hold of, but it’s different so it’s all good.

If I get a small case, I probably only use onboard.

Having had and even overclocked (bclk) a 5370 am1 build, what I can tell you.

DONT DO IT!

it’s simply not up to modern gaming. I tried a gtx 550 and the cpu was a complete bottleneck. A 750 would be even more throttled.

I upgraded to a haswell i3 which smashed all games in comparison.

You’ve been warned:)

+1 I had a thread on here with my 5370 at 3ghz and used a r7 360. With the apu oc'd the 360 was held back in quite a few games.

Do it right do it once, if on a considerable budget look for i5 SB/Ib/hwl. if money is that tight then find a new hobby.

ha thanks for replies.

im not going to do it now, couldnt be bothered to buy a used dual core sempron along with 4gb ram for £20 that i saw and found a 1155 bundle for £50, thats got a g2020 on a Asus P8H61-MX board and with 8gb xms3 ram, so thats installed in my cube along with gt610, so likely sell the am1 board now, however as it cost me a tenner, i might keep it and build in a mini itx case using onboard graphics or put my 610 in.

the am1 wasnt intended for gaming at all, i was just intrigued.

i purposely set low budgets for this hobby, i dont have time to build a proper system or even use, plus i like trying different setups.
