I have just been given a 32" HP Omen 75hz freesync monitor by a family member but doesn't go well with my GTX 1070 was wondering what AMD card to match with it for 1440p gaming

I have a BenQ XL2730Z which is 1440p Freesync and my 1070 runs great on it. When you say "doesnt go well with it" what exactly do you mean? Or is it that you would rather get an AMD card for Freesync purposes? (My 1070 runs great but not as smooth as my Fury Pro with Freesync). 1070 does run a lot cooler though, that I cannot deny. :D

Yes the 75hz can't be used with Nvidia cards you get frame stutter so only using 60hz which then leads to screen tearing etc also read it gives massive input lag when not in freesync. So would like a amd card to match it so can use the freesync as I love the monitor

The Vega 56 is the AMD equivalent of the 1070, and would certainly make a fantastic 1440p freesync card. Bonus being it's slightly faster in many games than your current 1070.

You could also concider the older FuryX, it's roughly the same performance but it's an older architecture and only has 4gb ram.

The good news is, if you sell your 1070 you'll probably get close to what you paid for it with today's second hand prices.

shame about the prices OMG a lot more than what I paid for my 1070

Yeah, crypto+general short supply has seen prices jump quite a lot. It's unfortunate that the prices of amd cards seem to have jumped more than the Nvidia ones. Having just looked on Google shopping, a Vega 56 seems to be around the same price as a1080ti (after the 1080ti's own price hike)!

The 580 is not in the same league as the 1070, it seems to benchmark in the same ball park as the 1060, so that price is way over what it should be (along with every other card lets face it)

Depends what games you play. Less demanding ones would work fine with an RX 580, more demanding would require a Vega 56 for higher quality settings at decent frame rates.

RobertN is right though, since you can't go higher than 75 Hz on your current monitor anyway I'd just stick with the GTX 1070 and ensure your settings give you near-constant 75 FPS with either frame rate cap or VSync enabled.

Enable FastSync in the nVidia control panel and make sure to disable vsync in any of the games you play, this will reduce stuttering/tearing whilst keeping low input latency.

I hate vsync due to the increase in input lag.
