Won't lie I've been out the loop in terms of components recently but I've purchased a Phanteks Enthoo Evolv mATX case and I suspect my motherboard won't fit.
This isn't necessarily a problem as I'm looking at buying a new motherboard, processor and ram set up but I'm in need of advice. I wish to get an ASUS Strix RGB model for the build but I'm not certain which models will fit, please could someone help me?

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £701.93 (includes shipping: £0.00)

since you have i7 4790k, i wouldnt going for anything lower then i7 .
8 Pack ram should hit 4000hz or CL10 at 3200hz if overclocking is your thing .

8700k runs hot... specially if you overclock! X61 should handle modest voltage and overclock if your just gaming and not video encoding etc

not to fused on Overclocking, i7 8700 non K hits 4.3ghz across all cores or 4.6ghz one 1/2 core workload and is £275 off here - also a cooler chip

You'll need to make sure that the motherboards you look at are listed as mATX and not the usual ATX :)

Also what CPU are you thinking of getting?
I personally don't feel an i7 is warranted so was going to look at something like an i5 8600k and overclock instead. Just not AMD, never AMD!!

Motherboard looks perfect, I have an idea for RAM so I'll be sorted on that.. personally as above was considering an i5 to keep the build cheap.

honestly, theres not much of a jump form i7 4 core 8 thread to i5 coffee 6 core 6 thread... specially if you've got a high overclock on the current i7!!!!

if you want to keep cash down but actually have a jump in performance

My basket at Overclockers UK:

boost on all 6 cores is 4.3ghz and 1/2 cores is 4.6 - also doesn't take a damn good cooler to keep K version which is overclocked under wraps, even 8700k without overclock can still be toasty
also changed ram for a bit of RGB glow to match board- slightly slower speed but should be able to run 2800hz without changing timings

cheaper again, drops the flair

UK RMA with gigabte and rep support on here unlike asus

old intels, i5 to i7 didn't get much in terms of HT threading because it was only 4 core chip, now being 6- having HT does add a larger jump with 6 core coffelake- hard to ignore at that price
