So my system is in my sig. I run Oculus Rift and triple 24 inch monitors at 1080p.

Since upgrading to triples I am seeing some slow down in fps in racing games. Dirt rally being the killer where I see a physical slow down at certain points.

I know the cards are priced higher due to crypto etc so would I be stupid in spending £625 on the EVGA 1080 SC card. I could wait and wait and wait etc so do I just take the hit now and live in comfort knowing my system will handle most things I throw at at (1080p).

I've thought long and hard about whether to upgrade my geforce 980 but the price of them has remained ridiculously high throughout the entire product life cycle. Plus I haven't really found many games where my 980 has struggled.

I'm waiting to see what Nvidia bring out for the next gen personally.

I would wait myself at this stage. Especially since Nvidia are rumoured to be announcing their next line of cards at GDC in March. Wait until after the March 23rd then decide.

I would have got a 1080ti by now if the prices had not gone ape, I only went from my 980 to a 980ti because I found a cheapish one a year ago or more, no intention of changing anything until prices come down.
Or when my set up becomes unable to run anything at acceptable levels, I will be happy enough at medium settings if I need to spend nearly a grad to run at max.

I'm still rocking a 980 and will not be upgrading while prices are a like what they are. Its not I cant afford it (wife might kill me) i just don't like being bent over and treated like a you know what

I was running triple 24’s @ 5760x1080 with a 780ti and had to reduce a few settings to get the best experience, I traded up to a 1070 which was perfect and a huge jump for me, then got a 4K tv and a second 1070 but now gone back to just one as I found I really didn’t need the performance and (perhaps through upscaling) found my games looked as good at a lower resolution and performed much better than @4k.

If you can find a used 1070 for a sensible price I’d highly recommend it for your setup.

I was tracking a 1070 I wanted in a wish list else where. Was just about to click buy and the price had jumped 40%. You snooze you loose I guess.

Sold mine on Sunday in the MM, it went in two minutes! Not much room for snoozing there! :D

The 1080Ti was tempting but then the price went up. Bought a Huawei Mate 10 Pro instead, great phone and a big upgrade from my OnePlus one.

Maybe look for a 980Ti. Unfortunately many other gamers have had the same idea and so the price has increased from the normal £250.
