980Ti > 1080 Ti

I did but turned my nose up at them due to price. Funnily enough this was ones from eBay when they were running a 20% off event pre mining explosion so could've got one for £580 but at the time I didn't want to spend that much. Now you can barely get a 1080 for that!

1080ti is roughly the same as 980ti sli in supported games so it's a decent upgrade.

I use a 1440p/60Hz monitor. Going from a Gigabyte 980Ti G1 Gaming (~£620) to a EVGA 1080Ti FTW3 (~£730) was noticable, both in performance and temps. I will make an effort to sell the older card, maybe :p

I have the MSI 980Ti and I did have a 1080Ti pre-order but in all honesty, I don't think its worth it. I game at 1440p with g-sync & 144hz and yet have to find a game which it struggles with. I would keep it or get another 980Ti for SLi.

980Ti still a damn solid card dude!! Probably worth holding out for the next Ti imo Snips.

I went from a 980ti as mine failed and I got a refund for it and managed to get one just before the price increases. The difference is noticeable but I wouldn't upgrade at these prices, also if it didn't fail I would have skipped this gen and maybe went for the next gen.

I went from a 980Ti to a 1080Ti. It was a brilliant idea at the time, 2560x1440 120Hz monitor and the 1080Ti was £700.

Probably wouldn't do it now though, given the prices..

I also went 980ti to 1080ti but bought on release. I run a 4k monitor so needed the grunt as Sli is a bit hit and miss.

All depends what resolution you run and refresh rate. Up to 1440 60hz I probably wouldn't bother as a 980ti should cut most games fairly well at that res and refresh. A greater resolution and/or refresh then the 1080ti would be beneficial. If you can get a 1080ti for only 300-400 extra then deffo. Sold my 980ti on day of 1080ti release for £330 and 1080ti was £720 so that was +~£400 then.

one of my best friends went from a 980ti HOF to a 1080ti Zotac AMP extreme, and is very happy with his purchase, although the main reason for him was 'project cars' in VR on the Vive. for pretty much everything else, he said he hasn't noticed much difference, other that the fact his new card doesn't get fully utilised by most games!

He paid ~ £750 I think, and got £250 for the 980ti, so £500 upgrade.

If I had a 980Ti atm I'd keep it and wait for the next-gen, possibly even later and just make it last. Good job it's a solid card with the current insanity on prices!!

I went from a 980 non Ti to a 1080Ti and the difference was huge. I played at 1440, and now 3440x1440. Bought my 980 brand new when they first came out, about £500. Bought my 1080Ti last year for £709. If you can get the right price I would say go for it, else wait for the next generation.
