What did I just read?

People demanding someone take a picture of themselves offline for their hairstyle and apologize?

Surely by saying dreads are for black people only, that's racism, that cant be PC... so to avoid calling it racism, the politically offended instead label it cultural appropriation so they can make it politically correct racism.

Maybe every time I see a PC person make a PC comment I can slap them, very hard, but instead of calling it assault, call it education, would that count?

*walks into newsroom, starts smashing people's faces into their desks*

"People. getting. upset. about. things. on. social. media. doesn't. automatically. mean. they. are. newsworthy."

Not something I necessarily agree on, but there's history behind dreadlocks and I can understand why it's frowned upon when non-poc people wear them.

Edit:

Why does it feel like this exact thread has been posted before but about someone else

It's funny how people claim the race card is played too much and then say things like that. Culturally insensitive but not at all racist, like girls at Coachella wearing native american headdresses and bindis.

Heh - friend of a friend and girl that was in my year at school, both white, both had dreads from the moment they were old enough to decide for themselves and unrelated to any kind of influence of other cultures, etc. :(

Could you help alleviate my ignorance by outlining the problem?

On the surface, it seems a bit of a silly thing to get upset about. But perhaps there's more to it

Ok so all black people need to stop straightening their hair, or what?

FFS these morons that come out with rubbish are the the problem, they are ensuring that there will always be division

@FoxEye this exactly proves my earlier point. The attention seekers are winning by annoying people.

Labrat, you are't the one attention seeking before you get annoyed and I have to apologise to the world or something.

Also, forget black people, she has been culturally appropriating a frog for years now.

This is one of the most ridiculous argumentative positions I've ever seen. The "offended" people are essentially saying it's wrong for her to use dreadlocks because her "people" have only been proven to have been doing it for 2000-3000 years whereas their "people" have allegedly been doing it for up to 5000, so they own the rights to it.

Does the world not have bigger problems? lol.

This goes both ways though. Surely a black woman straightening her hair or dying it blonde is no different?

In a world where schools are being shot up and children are being murdered, you really need to get a grip instead of looking to be offended by everything.

you can't really use logic with this stuff... you'll get all sorts of convoluted arguments if you try and poke any flaws in this stuff...

along the same lines as only white people can be racist you'll get some nonsense about power structures if you try point out an obvious equivalent scenario of a black woman straightening their hair etc..

Yeah I know, its ridiculous. Theres no room for debate with the far,far left and the ever offended. You either agree with them or you are a literal Nazi.

Maybe they should stop appropriating Twitter and the internet since they were invented by the white man then :/

Fight stupid arguments with stupid arguments.

Geezus some people are just born stupid and I mean utterly stupid.

If someone wants to braid their hair big deal  I can’t see any sort of racism/cultural appropriation or whatever the **** you want to call this **** nowadays.

God damn this world is getting more and more stupid by the day :/.
