I purchased an eternity ring for my wife 3 years ago for £280.

now although its 3 years old its only had approximately 2 years usage as my wife was pregnant and swelling made her unable to wear it probably has no bearing on return status.

the ring literally snapped the other day when taking it off in 2 places and debenhams want to charge us £25 to repair. I'm not sure i want a faulty ring repaired or to have to pay for it either, am i being reasonable?

do i stand any chance of this going my way and getting a complete replacement or free repair. im desperately trying to find warranty information but not much is coming up

I wanted to but Debenhams are basically shunning all responsibility, here is a quote from the email they sent:

As the ring is nearly 3 years old, any issues with the product would lay with the brand rather than Debenhams. I have however chased the company on your behalf, in an attempt to get some resolve for you.

They have offered a repair rather than a replacement, but due to the age of the ring have said they will need to charge for this service. The cost will be £25.

Im ringing C.A.B tomorrow and also may consult CC company to see if they can offer support as well

how long should a ring last for ? that would be my first question to them ..I would also take it to another jeweller and ask his advice .. if the gold had bubbles it would not last long as it's not solid
I only use one jeweller now and when she wants more gold I can sometimes get up to %30 off

Why would you want a replacement eternity ring? By it's very nature the actual item should have significance; it's not like replacing a faulty TV.

At the end of the day it's a piece of metal and stone. If it's faulty, I'd like it replaced, the special bond is held between myself and my wife, not a piece of jewellery. It's just a symbolic gesture

Rings can be repaired and if its done well you won't even know, it will come back shiny and new looking again. I'd take them up on the offer.
