I have realised that GD discussion means you have no life.

The log I laid as promised . All mossy and completly rotten and should fit well around the northern bank :) Takes two men has it’s a heavy log :p

I'm buying a Van and converting it into a motorhome of sorts. :)

Do Europe in the summer.

Is it financially viable vs buying one already done?

Bloke I work with was going to do it as he's a proper tight arse and thought it would be cheap and easy, by the time he'd priced it up and factored in building it to whatever regulations it had to meet he could have just bought one.

It's going to a hybrid sort of thing...put it this way..the goal is to get my motorbike in it...

I'll probably insulate it...then line it with pine cladding...run a few wires to it. Install some leisure batteries in series and charge them off the alternator. I'll cook on a portable gas stove.

It will be stealth. So it won't look like a camper from the outside..the fun is you can make it has simple or as complicated as you like....

quite enjoying that this started out as a bit of a dis and has ended in a quality pond appreciation and camper build session. This is the reason gd keeps you coming back for more punishment.

Yep, he kicks off by telling the GD regulars that they're all a shower of sad sacks with no life. Then, he proceeds to post a heap of photos of his garden and creaming his pants about a big log.

I love popping my head in here for an ego boost. :p

You could always have a second smaller project to make a mini-pond next to it for the frogspawn/tadpoles. The frogs themselves should be OK though I'd have presumed?
Just make sure each pond is clearly sign-posted, so the frogs know which one to lay their eggs in ;)

The mere fact you cannot see the beauty in my creation indicates a lack of life that you lead. :p

when it comes to fish...surely you would want something that will fit in with a normal pond eco system..so nothing too big and stuff that could actually be transported naturally...so minnows or sticklebacks, that way they wont upset the balance of the pond and the population would grow to fit their surroundings

small bait fish would then attract herons and the like

I'd suggest that ponds (of the typical garden size) are not a natural environment for any fish. Freshwater fish in nature live in rivers, streams, and large lakes. At least in this country, where we don't have a dry season/wet season/monsoon season.

I think I'm going to let the plants and wildlife sort its **** out before I add fish now.

When I do add fish it will small numbers

I came home from work today and saw something floating on the water, as I approached these fins appeared and it swam down to the stones at the shallow.

Terrapin!
