Bloody peugeot

Motability.
Probably is tbh. I don’t get why all these car dealerships have massive banners all over there showroom plugging it constantly. It’s like there trying to convince people they need to get themselves a disability to get a nice shiny new car on a cheap monthly package. Explains why tons of chav couples now like to think there unruly child has autism or adhd so they can get on the scheme.
My local Bmw dealership had a big refurb few months back with a very fancy showroom and expensive cars on display only to ruin it with a massive “motability” sign draped over the front so big even stevie Wonder could see it.

Hi people. So wife's peugeot 207 has been not starting then when Aa turn up usually within the hour the bloody thing starts. All lights come on dash but just doesn't turn over. Then fine for a few days. I'm thinking sticky starter motor. Any ideas?

Get a multimeter and check in the morning before starting and then once the car is warmed running.

Motability.

Motability sales are not a particularly profitable channel for car manufacturers. In fact, it's only just above daily rental sales.

Both Peugeot and Vauxhall have been pulling back from these kind of sales as it's a bit of a mugs game.

Had this problem on my Focus and so did next door on VW - Both problems were lose battery leads believe it or not.

I had an '08 308 a few years back and other than servicing and tyres it never went wrong for the 4 years I had it or the 2 years my mum had it after. She sold it to a friend who's still running it without significant problems. Must have been a lucky one.

We've had a 207 HDI from new in the family since 2007 83k on the clock now and just recently had its Cambelt and Waterpump changed.

Only thing that ever wrong with it is that the light behind the heater dial goes out if you switch to hot and comes back on again if you switch to cold :D:D. Peugeot's and their electrics eh??

Aside from that its been a great little runner. Do remember it isn't fond of extremely cold temperatures, haven't tried starting it in the -6 temps we've had in Andover this week but last year when it was -4 it failed to start - the Diesel probably had jelled up a bit.

TBH my Mrs 55 plate 307 that she uses for work gets so much abuse and hasn't really let her down. The exhausts don't last 5 minutes but that's normal for a French hack, and the radiator had a leak.

I mean, it's completely knackered cosmetically and tappets sound a bit horrid, but it drives from A to B ok. The gearbox is utter garbage, too. It's literally like changing air, I hate it.

I doubt anything from the PSA group these days is any less reliable than your average German car

Yeah there are dozens of threads on this forum discussing the requirement for an extended warranty on BMWs in case of the near-inevitable four-figure bill, yet as soon as a Peugeot is mentioned, there are still people stuck in the "lol French" mindset. Not many people, though, so perhaps the old bad reputation is gradually being overcome.

Peugeots tend to have unreliable electronics where as Audis/BMW it seems to be engine issues, but less common. Though quite a few BMWs seem to have randomly gone up in flames from electrical faults :P

Had my 207 HDI 20 months now and the only thing it has need in that time is a new front spring (apart from bodywork repairs). Tell me how that is any less reliable than the next marque.

Most of it is down to status and perceived class system = "my car is german therefore I'm better than you because your car is french".

Every french car either myself or my brother has owned has had issues - Clio Williams, Clio 172, Clio 182 cup, Peugeot 405, meganne, safranne - haven’t owned a French car now for about ten years and I’m sorry but I never would again. The reliability electronically and mechanically was bad. I have since driven VWs and fords and had nowhere near the level of problems

Had this problem on my Focus and so did next door on VW - Both problems were lose battery leads believe it or not.

I don't know about the other models, but the 3008 SUV has quick release battery connectors and some people have had issues with them, needing them to be tightened or re-connected to solve problems.

I have owned a Saxo and yes it needed a couple of new arms after running over obstacles, new radiator, O2 sensor.. etc etc. The engine management light was on when I sold it :D but it did make it from the Nurburg Ring to home in the UK with virtually no coolant at speed.. However I have had more issues with the Focus, although reliable, it was prone to the filters clogging (air and diesel), the alternator and battery (pick one because a fault in one normally destroyed the other).

Had the 3008SUV a year now, about 4900 miles and, as you'd expect, only issue was the coolant pipe needed replacing in the first week.. the software bug that had no disable massage function on startup sorted by a software update .. etc etc (well it's french). The car has been fine since.
