So I keep going back to another one of these to replace the Polo in May, but they are still so strong on price for a good one, circa 25K.

I want....

- Active dampers or even air rear (MUST HAVE)
- Tow bar (but could fit one)
- Would like comfort seats
- 30K miles or less
- 530D/535D/535i/540i/550i
- Loaded (so Visibility/Advanced Sat Nav etc)

Frankly I would want a full spec, where do we think these will be in May price wise and would I just be better off buying the new one or an E Class / A6 of previous era? I loved my F10...I know you sleep with yours, but try and be objective. Would just buy it outright.

All the tourings have rear air suspension but adaptive will be much harder to find.

Visibility pack stopped with the facelift in 2013 when Xenon lights became standard. LED headlights are virtually impossible to find but adaptive headlights with high beam assist are worth it because on the facelift they do beam splitting.

G31 530d is going to be at least 35k whereas 20-25 will get a very nice F11.

If you want spec, have you considered a 5 GT? Load space is less than the Touring with the seats up, but more with the seats down.
However, you might be able to find one in a higher spec for a lower price.

I detest the 5GT, horrible things.
Shame, they're actually quite nice to drive and handle surprisingly well on the limit* with the Adaptive dampers in Sport..

*taking sharp, hilly corners on the autobahn far too fast.

I had a good sit in the new one at the weekend, cracking thing and I have driven it too but in saloon form. I had a look last night and think I found 3 on BMW's site with Adaptive Drive, but having compared the 2 versions back to back (mine with a 535D with adaptive) I would not buy another without it, it really does fix the ride as all the reviews have said. If they were circa 20K for the best ones it would be on my drive now, but last model high specs are closer to 26k-28K.

It am really looking for a barge with lots of space and the ability to tow my race car, stick a load of wheels and tyres in the back and generally allow my wife and I to have the flexibility. I just don't like the look of the GT, but know they are a fair car.

To be fair, the sloping rear hatch is a pain, so something more boxy would make more sense for your needs.

Re the last model high specs costing nearer to £30k. Will they depreciate a significant proportion more than the ones that are currently available near to £20k? Initial outlay may not be a total waste. High spec cars like this tend to keep their value better than boggo versions.

The F11 is in another league to the W212 E class though and it's values reflect that, the interior in particular is very poor. The new E class is a much much better car.

30k seems like too much to spend on an F11 these days mind. Test drive one without adaptive as they made changes at the face-lift so perhaps you'll find it different. I find the ride and handling blend of my 2015 model to be excellent though there is no denying how good Adaptive Drive is.

Have you looked at Audi A6 3.0 bi turbo or single turbo? The MMI system is a little dated now compared to F10 iDrive but way better than the mercedes crap and the interior is built like a tank and is no way near as dated as W212 pre/facelift

I will drive one, but the ride of my 2011 F10 really got to me over the time had the car, it was simply too stiff but will try a later one without adaptive.

You should see the sat nav in my R8, it's like a CGA display and only had 3 roads. :D

:D
The upgraded nav in the A6 with tech pack can come with audi connect which has google maps integration, wifi hotspot etc - the system is still good to use (my dad has a slightly larger version of this in his A8)
It also has a nice screen between the dials which can do nav, media etc

I found the W212 E Class a much nicer place to be than the F10/11, especially from the last of the revisions. A very different focus and philosophy in non AMG variant to the BMW but a much more comfortable and relaxing driver experience.

The new E again in my opinion is well ahead of the G30 for driver comfort and cabin layout.

I found Adaptive drive to be rarely spec'd and also rarely mentioned when it was. Your best bet is to try to find the highest spec models you can and then ask them for the VIN to check yourself if it has Adaptive Drive.

However, I need to tell you to also keep your eye out for Integral Active Steering (4 wheel steering - which is as rare) because it seriously changes the way the car drives (although removes a lot of the BMW-ness of the drive). It makes my F11 feel like a tiny punto, and also makes high speed corners an absolute luxo-barge experience with endless grip.

Keep your eye out for models like the below, then contact them and ask for the VIN to check for adaptive drive yourself.

Edit:
Found this, slightly over budget (double) but virtually brand new:
