Which would you favour & why out of these at these prices to replace current stop gap card a GT 730?
Asus RX550 2GB (1 fan) £109 ish

Asus RX560 2GB (2 fans) £140 ish

Palit GTX 1050 2GB (1 fan) £114 ish
MSI GTX 1050 2GB (2 fans but low profile) £129 ish

To go in this system
CPU Ryzen 1500x
Mobo Gigabyte x370 Gaming 5
RAM 16GB
PSU EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G3
3 monitors

PS yes I have a fan fixation:D

None of the above? :D

Definitely not the RX550 - it has half the shaders of the RX560 and doesn't cost substantially less.

If you don't mind second hand, then you could get this level of performance for £50-£60 via a Radeon 7950 / Nvidia GTX 670

You ratbag :D
I don't have access to the marketplace & no way am I doing ebay for a gpu. So would you say 560 or 1050, it's a stopgap only or I stay with my awful GT 730?

Flash your BIOS and stick a R5 2400G in there. Job done :D

If the RX 560 is available then get that. It's availability that's the issue
All the ones I've mentioned are available at those prices. Serious question is this an AMD over Nvidia preference thing? Or is there something about the RX 560 2GB that makes it superior?

It's faster.

Oh I own Nvidia GTX 1080 and have a Ryzen based PC. Before that I had Intel and had AMD and Nvidia cards in it. I'm brand agnostic.

Generally AMD cards have been more competitive at the bottom end. They are usually a bit faster for the same price or similar performance at a lower price. It's when you get up to GTX 1070 class that they have struggled. Vega 56 is faster than 1070 but at the cost of heat and power consumption, oh and the fact they are none existent. 1080 and 1080Ti level they have no answers.

I actually recommended the new Ryzen 2400G as the onboard graphics are comparable to the RX 550. You could swap out your 1500X and sell it on to recoup some money as a suggestion out of left field.

You have a lot of options available which is quite refreshing compared to what was previously available and with current GPU prices.

That said, I would always prefer a dedicated card to game with.

I would get the GTX1050 2GB as long as it is under £120. The RX560 should be around the same price, and at £140 is not worth the money.

Here are some reviews comparing the two cards:

Edit!!

The Ryzen 5 2400G is also an option, but is more dependent on system RAM speed. What speed RAM do you have in the system,OP and is it dual channel??
