Hi all,

Hoping someone can help as I'm not clued up on Apple stuff much.

When I back up my photos from my iPhone to my linux server using the app "Photosync", it loses the date taken/created date of the photo, and replaces it with the date I back up the photos instead.

Does anyone know how I can get round this or use a backup solution which doesn't affect the date the photo was taken?

for context i'm trying to arrange my photos by month and year, and my Android phone being backed up by "Foldersync Pro" is maintaining the date taken.

Sounds more like an issue with the App than anything else.

I don't use a linux server; but everything I've used; including simply importing photos to a Windows machine using the Windows Photos app preserves everything fine.

If I were you I'd try reach the Photosync devs and check their support if there's something to it.

Fingers crossed mate.

Will be interested if they have a solution.
impressively they have. the app supports FTP transfer, which I can enable on my linux server and on the latest version of the PhotoSync app there's a toggle to "preserve file creation dates" which some FTP servers support, including mine :) so i'm all sorted.

The dev even went as far as to suggest "exiftool" where I can retrospectively make the file creation dates on my linux file sever into the date which the photo was taken in the EXIF tag! :) best £2.99 i've ever spent.

Glad you got it sorted! Looks like it was a little issue on their end; but glad it was an easy fix.
