Man puts hand over my back gate, gets bitten by my dog....

What exactly did the man claim was his reason for being there? How would he know to make an excuse about looking at the roof? Could he be connected to someone at the roofing place who is using the job as a cover to pass on householders details (when they're home, access etc) to his mate to go & rob?

#TeamGuardDoggies

PS Your dogs are beautiful
He claimed to be there to check a job that was done on the roof last week, perhaps he was local and had spotted the work being done?

Definitely nothing to do with the roofing contractors from what they tell me.

We get quite a few suspicious callers in my area, and there’s been a fair few break ins on my street, I think the dogs are doing a good job of deterrence!

Hmmm I think you are right he sounds 100% hinky. Seems your doggies saved the day. Dear heavens, they are so cuddleable!:D
pre-empt him and have your dogs put down first.
You are broken

Amen.

What if he was breaking in? Why should the victim (home owner) should be either be robbed or be the defendant on the court if the perpetrator was bitten by the dogs?

The guy clearly trying to gain unauthorized access to the house, and it was his fault.

That's the thing, maybe he was working on a roof but thought he would help himself to something while he was there, it happens. Opening a closed gate in to private property without getting permission isn't normal.

beautiful looking dogs, we used to have a white alsatian some years ago he was huge, taller than me when he jumped up and i'm 6ft.

Wasn't a dangerous dog, good around people and the cat, but did like to eat plates....

My girl hates cats, and is the protective one Marley on the other hand likes everything and anyone.

Poised ready for their next victim.... :p

They have a dog flap in my back door so they have access to my back garden whenever they like (I can lock the flap if I want to)

Surely letting your dog's come and go in your backdoor everyday has left you flap abit lose? Don't you ever worry that another dodgy bloke might try his luck and see if he can squeeze in? Sure it would be a tight fit but once he's in he could destroy the inside once he's taken what he wants.

When you go sofa shopping do you take the dogs and use them as a rough measuring guide.

"So yeah the sofa must be a minimum of 1 of my huge dogs"

Awesome doggos btw

Those are lovely pooches, and you sound like a good dog owner.
Thanks, I try to be.
They cost me a fortune, Roo has epilepsy which my insurance won’t cover, £100 per month in Vets bills just for that on average!

Wouldn’t have it any other way, she's fine and healthy - as is Marley.

Can’t make my mind up weather this is another euphemism! :D

If not, prior to the doggy flap I just left the back door open all day (I worked nights at the time) so the flap is a bit more secure.

Anybody climbing through is most likely going to get met by Roo on the other side (assuming they get into the garden and through the flap without her hearing....)

I heard those 'beware of the dog' signs are bad, it could be argued in court you knew your dogs are dangerous.
My police officer friend tells me it’s the reverse, I’m doing my best to warn people I have dogs on the property and more specifically what type.

Are we sure they're dogs and not small polar bears?
We call them the wolves.

I bet Marley costs a bob to feed.
Believe it or not, Roo eats more than Marley, she’s very much the pack leader and he always leaves food for her!
