Sexual assault?

What people seem to forget about these things is that women are constantly subjected to objectification, sexual assault, unwelcome attention and just general creepiness. Sure, looking at an isolated incident it may seem extreme and that the woman may be making a fuss but if you amplify that by the dozens of times it is happening that day I can completely get why they perceive things differently than us men.

Yeah but punishment is (supposed to be) proportional to the crime, not the frequency of the crime across the whole world... If a single offender commits the same crime multiple times you could conceive a harsher punishment being handed down for the repeat offences.

But is it in any way valid to make punishments extremely harsh because, as you see it, women have to "put up with unwanted advances" up and down the country?

Bear in mind that it's typically a man's job to make the first move. Nine times out of ten. Isn't that the established norm in our society?

I'm not defending this guy who genuinely seems even creepier than I am, but it does seem pretty soon we're going to need women to be instigating romantic entanglements. Men are going to be terrified of going within 20' for fear of a harassment claim, followed by a life sentence in Gitmo :p

Who knows. People plead guilty when they think they're going to lose.

If he is sufficiently well off not to qualify for legal aid, he would have to fund his own defense. Even if he won he wouldn't necessarily get his money back.

So even if you win you lose.

An innocent man Pleading guilty to avoid becoming bankrupt like that Corrie guy might well be a logical choice

The guy kissed a woman repeatedly, without invitation and on parts of the body that are not considered "friendly kissing" areas.

It's a sexual motive, it's unwanted, it seems to meet the requirements for a sexual assault charge.

At the very very least he's a ******* creep who has made sexually motivated unwanted physical contact with someone else.

I suppose any parent would have to consider how they would feel if it was their daughter he "accosted" in the way that he did . The article goes on to state :
He is 58, and is in a close and loving relationship.

'It was an isolated incident in a character without blemish.
It makes no mention as to whether he was in a relationship at the time and him being " a character without blemish" is simply solicitor speak to play down that this is the first time he has been caught.

It does look as though he attempted to abuse the terms of his friendship, though I don't know why him being an ex-company director ought to have any bearing on the matter, unless it's just a biased attempt on the part of the newspaper to come to the man's defence.

Sounds like he had a moment of madness to me, but in today's climate he's probably lucky he didn't spend time inside. And no I don't in any way condone what he did.

Indeed, but like the OP said, a simple slap would have sufficed. But no, lets call the police and seek therapy because of this truly traumatic life altering experience she's just had forced upon her.

What an utterly pathetic woman.

Or maybe blokes could just not grab women from behind and start kissing them when it's not wanted. Probably easier that way.

Why should the woman have to resort to violence?
Also what is the woman is scared of what the man will do if they slap him?

I wouldn't be surprised is there is more that has been reported at the moment, as I suspect someone doesn't do something like this in public as their first "mistake".
