PC World

I can only imagine their customers are those that don't know about technology and are bullied into making a purchase.

Absolutely not.
It's great to go in PC World/Currys and actually see the stuff in the flesh and if any salesman bothers me I just tell them to go away and I'll tell them if I want them.
Bought a VAX Blade last week, it was the cheapest I'd seen it anywhere, nobody bothered me and they didn't hassle me about an extended warranty when I said no.
Some people really need to get a pair of balls when buying stuff, we have a world of ********** 'Oh the nasty man tried to sell me something'.

Lol, love how that word has been asterix'ed out, it's even on the National News about the Army.

They always appear overstaffed to me, in our local store that's small and narrow there are two places to pay at either end (staffed) and at least 8 other people just standing around with nothing to do.

Had a bit of a turn up for the books - following my unsatisfactory visit this week, I submitted a complaint online - I also got hold of the email address for the current CEO and the UK & Ireland director - so dropped a copy of my complaint over to them.

I received an email from the Regional Manager, along with his mobile number to call directly - which I did; and had a decent 20 or so minutes chat about my experience. That's a level of response I've never received before, even when tackling that level with other companies - so I was very impressed by this.

Hopefully they take things on board for my local store, maybe they'll bring back that customer satisfaction smiley face thing :D In seriousness though, much as their prices often put me off - I do still enjoy a mooch around my local store, so wouldn't like to see it closed down or anything. Not that in any way I expect my feed back to do that mind! I simply meant that with the CPW side of the business struggling, lets hope they don't go canning stores to pull things back.

We bought a cooker from CPW a few months ago. It was cheaper than online, install was a touch cheaper and they agreed to take both our old cookers including a huge range for £10.

They did lay it on thick with extended warranty and their cleaning service. Needless to say I didn't take them up on it. I imagine many do though.

The knownothing installers were 2.5hrs late and tried to avoid fitting the cooker which I wasn't very impressed with but did eventually get it done.

In my experience the installers will find the slightest excuse to get out of plumbing/wiring in equipment.

Years ago when I still used to buy these type of things new, I went into a DFS or one of those type of furniture shops to check out some sofas.

Imagine a pride of lions descending upon a poor buffalo. That was my experience with their salesmen. I was even followed into the car park by one dude that must’ve been really low on sales practically begging me to buy a piece.

These days I simply tell them NO and ignore them if they try making small talk. The gf gets really embarrassed when I do that but it’s the only way to make them F.O right away. Although it’s not as bad here as I remember it in UK.

Yeah, furniture shops are often worse. They'll follow you around, as soon as you look at anything they have on sale an immediate "are you interested in this, it's a great price, we can have it delivered next week, sign here". When they finally get the message that you want them to leave you alone they can often be spotted hiding behind something, stalking you as you walk around. Quite funny and annoying at the same time!

I find that in those situations a good trick is to just give them a quick 'No thank you' in sign language. They soon leave you alone.

The kids crappy kindle fire pile of absolute junk packed up the other night, so we popped down about 7ish to curry’s which is 5 minuets drive away, and picked up a 10.5” IPad Pro! This is a family Ipad now and so convenient in that respect and same price from Apple. Can’t fault curry’s for that. One Thing I did notice is no one can be arsed to come over and and ask if I neeeded any help, possibly a good thing to when they used to hound you back in the commission days

To be fair, the iPad is x10 the cost of the Fire tablet! I'm not surprised that they are convenient and helpful when selling high-value items like that!

Found the exact same thing at my local store - it seemed like because they were in the last hour of the day, they couldn't give a flying ****. I had to set off an alarm just to get someone to come over!

Standard practice should be to say hello when you come in, let you wander about a bit, and if they see you lingering in one section to pop over and ask if you need any advice/assistance.

The only assistance they seem to be able to offer is to read the label on the item you're looking at.

As I previously mentioned, the last time I went in there I was pretty much chased around the TV section with a guy trying to sell me Sky Q, even after I told him I already had it, and then trying to sell me an LG OLED TV that I already had after I'd told him I was checking prices as whilst I was in the area I'd see what was on offer for my parents who were looking to go 4K. He just wouldn't shut up, he must have been on some commission basis.
