Hi guys,

Dilemma, I've ordered an EVGA GTX 1080 FTW Hydro Copper but it seems it may not appear in stock when promised (delivery was supposed to be tomorrow?)

Now I could get the Gigabyte GTX 1080 WF3 OC & purchase the water block + backplate and still save about £30/£50ish, but I'm concerned that the Gigabyte only has 1 x 8 pin power Vs 2 x 8 pin for the EVGA, plus the EVGA has better clock speeds, how much that matters I'm not sure?

Any feedback will be great :)

Most 1080's clock the same, I've seen people put the reference cooled ones under water and sustain 2GHz clock speeds.

i've read the same, pretty much get any card. for the record mine is a super jetstream and on my OC boosts to 2126 then 2114 core as it warms up a bit. The main benefit you get with water cooling is higher sustained clocks as it wont get hot at all.

How much does the single power socket make Vs 2? Does it really matter if all cards clock similarly?

Thanks for the info btw :)
from some googling, 1 8 pin connector should be good for around 225w, two 8 pins are about 375w. the card when overclocked seems to use around 205ish.

So going by what you've found James, the 2nd power connector only comes into play if you're unlocking the voltage etc and seriously overclocking? So just pushing the sliders to max in Afterburner will be ok on the 1 x 8 pin?

i would have a look around reviews some more and look at the power draws they showed, but yes i think so. should have plenty of headroom even with 1 8pin.

My reference 1080 with ek block boosts to about 2100, as it only get to about 40 degrees gaming it holds that too. Single 8 pin connector.

Thanks for all the replies guys, I was about to order something different this morning and then out of the blue I got a dispatch email, EVGA 1080 FTW Hydro Copper will be here on Friday now, can't wait to get it all up and running finally!
