Part exing a car

fair enough, but why still own it till this point? if your kids have outgrown the back then they are obviously a decent age meaning you couldve sold it ages ago when the value wouldve been higher? dont get me wrong id love a porsche, but still

why buy a porsche 911 if you got to regularly take kids about

My boss has a 911 (his second) and he regular takes his two kids out it in (both over here and over seas) they are around 5 and 10. He upgraded from a boxster when the first came along for the extra seats. So you can use a 911 as a family car.

I bought it when my wife was 4 months pregnant thinking if I don't get a turbo now I never will. That was 4.5 years ago and I don't refer my choice in fact my (now 4 year old) daughter tells me off for going round roundabouts too slow. TBH I do now fancy a bit of a change and it's a squeeze for all 4 of us to go out.

@theone8181 - they’re quite practical for the performance that they offer! I still think you’ll regret selling it for a similar compromise of practicality (M4 only has 2 doors still). Get a family wagon and keep the 911 for fun days (and buy a roof box).

I know but I've done the 911 thing now. I feel it's time for a change. I don't mind loading kids in through front doors my daughters climbs in herself anyway. I just can't justify 2 cars.

Regardless of what you do, at least sell the thing privately, the market is good for the 911 Turbo, it is a very desirable car even with the mileage.

Frankly you'd probably sell it just through WOM on a couple of forums if all you want is a trade value plus a little sweetener for it.

What do you reckon the difference in part ex value would be worth selling privately? And for above, with 1 kid yes its fine, 2 starts getting tricky.

For my car it's about 6k. Yours is a little bit more valuable but I'd expect something simular. Be warned btw...part ex values on the M4 are terribad for some reason.

The thing is its got winter wheels on it (not a porsche set) so if they dont notice that along with alarm issues thats worth about £2500. If i get high 20's ill be happy, theres a dealer selling one with 10,000 less miles than mine for 35k so im not expecting miracles.

Sounds like a bit of jealously to me. How anyone remotely interested in cars can bad mouth someone for buying a 911 is beyond me!

jealous of what? a 911? no, the only 911 id have is the GT2, the day i can afford a porsche it be the old 2.5 boxster and also i wasnt bad mouthing? think you need to look up what that term means.. having 3 kids of my own under 6 and 3 family cars(well 2 in use anyways), i cant see the point in shoving the kids in the back of a coupe, that be like if i got to keep my MGF from years ago(prior to kids) and shoving them in the boot lol.

@ExoMale - Having owned both, I can confirm that the 911 is definitely more comfortable in the rear than the MGF owing to its rear seats.

@theone8181 - part ex is there for a reason. If you want to get rid quickly with no questions asked and for a lower price then you take that trade off. The difference here is that the residuals for 911’s in general have gone crazy in recent years (996 prices have increased by 50% for a good example) and you could get more cash that way. Depends how you want to play it really.

Only way to know is test the waters.

Have you had the alarm issue looked at and quoted at £2.5k?
