Hostages taken at a supermarket near Montpellier

^Is there an official source for that?
Source for what? The ban?

The European Commission for Racism and Intolerance. They insist that media outlets do not make the link between terrorist attacks and the perpetrators religion. The purpose is, understandably, to prevent retaliatory attacks on Muslim communities.

France itself refuses to name or make reference to perpetrators of terrorism to prevent glorifying the attacker. They don't want to make martyrs.

Unfortunately in the 21st Century this is not really going to work. Newspapers and TV channels might go along with this but it will all come out in the wash online anyway.

I knew Sweden had the jitters about admitting what their issues are, but I had no idea this castrating of the free press had now been burdened pan Europe. If this is the case it's a sad reflection on just how big this issue that dare not speak its name has become in the EU's eyes... Are you sure this is true across the EU? I would like to see the source in black and white if you could oblige please?

But from that quote it is obvious the European Commission is placing some pressure on the press to withhold information that might show terrorists' religion, even when religion is the raison d'etre of the acts themselves. It's still a worrying trend...

"ECRI regrets that a way has not been found to establish an independent press regulator and that, as a result, certain tabloids continue to publish offensive material, as indicated above. ECRI urges the media to take stock of the importance of responsible reporting, not only to avoid perpetuating prejudice and biased information, but also to avoid harm to targeted persons or vulnerable groups. ECRI considers that, in light of the fact that Muslims are increasingly under the spotlight as a result of recent ISIS-related terrorist acts around the world, fuelling prejudice against Muslims shows a reckless disregard, not only for the dignity of the great majority of Muslims in the United Kingdom, but also for their safety. In this context, it draws attention to a recent study by Teesside University suggesting that where the media stress the Muslim background of perpetrators of terrorist acts, and devote significant coverage to it, the violent backlash against Muslims is likely to be greater than in cases where the perpetrators’ motivation is downplayed or rejected in favour of alternative explanations."

Info from a Frenchie. European media is banned from naming suspects as Islamic under some new Euro directive. You aren't gonna get that info from mainstream news

Riiiggghhhttt....think i'll stick to the facts from the MSM than the fake news you believe from whatever 'alternative media' rubbish you read thanks

Prime example of fake news. Was that from 'the Frenchie' you were talking to as well, or anther reliable source like reddit or the daily mail?

Unfortunately you would think in the 21st Century, with the internet at their fingertips, people would fact check things themselves before regurgitating the rubbish designed to agitate the usual suspects like skunk and Chris, who are drawn to such fake news like sharks to blood.

But I guess that wouldn't fit with their agenda would it?

I knew Sweden had the jitters about admitting what their issues are, but I had no idea this castrating of the free press had now been burdened pan Europe

That's because it hasn't happened

Says the man who declared himself "right" about his opinions of a tragic event over the internet to a bunch of strangers to score browny points.

Well done.

I was talking to a guy in the area as it was happening. In that situation information can get muddled. I gave you the information about a cop who traded himself for hostages way before it broke on the news but of course that was all conspiracy wasn't it.

I told you that an off duty officer was shot and killed before the event which was incorrect. The officer did not die but was shot and wounded before the event.

But okay, if you think I just pulled all this out of my behind then go right ahead. It's clear you've picked up your ball and gone home with it on this one.

Is this some kind of elaborate but stupid trap? You got some incorrect information from a 'Frenchie' (who doesn't exist except in Chris Wilson's pub which also doesn't exist) and this trumps (thank you, many such cases!) the mainstream media?

What information got muddled that led you to peddle the fake news about the EU banning the free press from reporting facts just to stir up more anti-Islamic feeling, hmm?

"ISIS Apologists" :D:D:D

Gets called out on spreading alt-right fake news trying to inflame the situation, and we haven't even mentioned the hyperbole about the start of "The Spring Offensive" yet, and runs off with the usual pathetic response.

Looks like you're the one who's picked up the ball and gone home crying ;)
