The State of our roads !!

I have never seen the roads so bad, they have fallen apart this winter. I see the occasional bit of tar sprayed into some, but it doesn't seem to do much because they just open back up. This is part of the problem, short term gain, but more costly in the long run.

Step 2: Be thankful the roads are actually pretty decent in the UK.

They all seem to have been reported on my route - yet have been like this for months. We are literally taking avoiding action for the deepest at the moment. It is also a busy B road, so not exactly a quiet little street. Saying that, my quiet little street was resurfaced not long ago. I am confused!

It's pretty simple, if you want spending on infrastructure and public services, stop voting for a Govt that thinks ideological austerity is a necessity.

If they are happy to run down the NHS, they give little regard for the roads. People Health > Road Condition. They allocated a few billion for patchwork not long ago, but if you starve the Councils of money then roads are going to be a low priority. Local elections coming soon, make sure the Govt hears how you feel about this or stop moaning. Mind you, the rate this govt is going the roads will be like a game of Fallout soon....

Great, but that's because nobody uses it - not because it's a toll road.

I was going to say the same thing, if it was like some sort of autobahnen i bet it would get used though.

If it had no speed limit then it would definitely be more popular. But then I bet some insurers would bar people from going on it

No they aren't! Even if the surface is unbroken, they undulate constantly. Driving on a German Autobahn or a French Autoroute is like driving on glass by comparison!

Then we have farces like the M6 Toll which needed major repairs literally weeks after opening.

Road construction in this country is a farce.

Yeah I know, I was just reinforcing the point I made above that we're generally incapable of building decent roads in this country.

It's hardly as if they have time constraints! The M1 roadworks have been going on for years in the same places and they only seem to be finishing them now
