Hi Guys,

I Currently have a CM690 its about 6 years old and 2 stock fans are now on their last legs, I'm looking for pointers on a new PC case?

If I'm honest and i'd bought the 3rd gen CM690 I don't think id change its a refined case but 6 years of the beast, I think its healthy to change it up a little :).
You need to give us more to go on then :D

What do you need in a case? Slick professional looking aluminium monolith - or bright and leary perspex fish tank like thing full of lights? How many drives, what's you budget, and do you have an exceptionally large cooler or GFX card?

I kinda skimmed over Corsair are they any god for case?
Some of their cases are great, the 740, 540 and 240 cube things are brilliant, and their high end towers are lovely.

Some of their stuff is shocking though - baffling design choices and poor build quality - like any vendor it's swings and roundabouts!

Edit: In-Win have some great stuff out at the mo, the couple of systems I've build recently have been very high quality, well proportioned and nice asthetics

I'm thinking more the Slick professional look, quiet and cool is better than bright and light. But I think windowed is a must as I currently don't have one. I wouldn't want to down grade from the CM 690 so anything up to £150 is probably reasonable as I intend to keep it for another 6 years or so.

I'm running i5 7600k with CM hyper 212X Heatsink, MSI 980TI 6GB, 16Gb Corsair 2400Mhz Ram, HDD 3.5" -1x1TB, 1x2TB SSD -1x256GB Samsung

What type do you want? Plastic side panel. Glass side panel. Metal side panel. Quiet. Well ventilated. With or without 5.25" drives ( if so how many )? Flashy or sedate style?

We have the cm690 as well and its still going strong after six years of use. The only alteration we did was to add usb 3.0 to the case, other than that we have no reason to change it.

I change cases every now and then because it refreshes the PC. Makes it look like new again! Even though the insides may be the same, it's pretty much like buying a new PC.

Thanks all for your help guys, I just wanted to give a conclusion.

I couldn't decide in the end so I've stayed with my current case but I did the following;

Removed the spare 5 HDD bays leaving the 2 fixed bays to give air flow to graphics card from front fan
Upgraded front fan to 1x Corsair AF140 LED blue - 66.4 cfm
Upgraded rear exhaust fan with AF120 - 37.85 CFM
Added rear top exhaust fan AF120 - 37.85 CFM

I'm now getting positive pressure not negative and air is being pushed out of the 2 large fan vents on the case side.

The pc is now silent using the ASUS motherboard controller software when not gaming. When gaming the Fans kick in to half rpm and my graphics card ( MSI 980ti 6GB) temp has reduced from 78-79C to 64-70C running 60Hz @ 1440p. The CPU is still running at 48C as I haven't upped the CPU fan speed to save on noise.

We have the cm690 as well and its still going strong after six years of use. The only alteration we did was to add usb 3.0 to the case, other than that we have no reason to change it.

Chippy how did you upgrade the USB ports? was it just a controller in the front CD DVD drive bay?
