Stupid clocks go forward this weekend.

Its just stupid and archaic to be honest.

Wife is a student nurse, has just worked 7am to 1930pm in intensive care and has gone straight to bed...she now loses an hour sleep. Load of nonsense.

BST was needed in yesteryears for the agricultural industry but has become irrelevant due to advances in technology.

I agree with Feek in that keep the clocks GMT all year round.

Off-topic, but Easter should always be in April. If you have an April Easter followed by a March Easter, it means you have 2 Easters in the same financial year and it buggers up holiday pay. It's a nightmare for the payroll team.

I definitely prefer BST, I get up early to walk to the station and there is nothing better than a fresh mornings walk in the sunrise. Then to go out and socialise when it's light in the evening or have a BBQ and the kids can play in the garden more in the spring/summer evenings, it's a really nice time for them too. I have noticed over the years it's usually more anti-social people or singletons who prefer GMT.

Got called into work an hour and a quarter early (unrelated to clocks changing) yesterday evening so left an hour early this morning so it hasn't really effected me.

BST was only first mooted in the UK in 1907 and finally introduced in 1916. It has very little to do with agriculture.

It so people can enjoy the extra daylight in the evening. Unless you wake up exceptionally early all year round, the loss of an hours daylight in the morning is only noticeable for a month or so. Sunrise in London tomorrow is 6:50, by the end of April it will be 5:30.

Without BST, sunrise in mid June would be 3:30 which is absurdly early.

The clocks are only put back to GMT because dawn would be unreasonably late in the depths of winter in the northern extremities of the UK.

If anything, would should stay on BST. Currently it's 7 months BST, 5 months GMT.

Bike lights required again for the next few weeks' commutes, having just benefitted from a week of daylight on the way in.:(
