FC2 is still let down by many atrocious mechanics that get in the way of a great experience - I've still not forgiven them for the malaria, gun degradation, malaria, check point repopulation mechanics, malaria.

There is a mod for Far Cry 2 that removes malaria and fixes a heck of a load of stuff its a different experience altogether. Cant for the life of me remember its name but I`m sure you can find it.
 
Someone on Reddit brings in a strong point and its something I have said a lot around here. Look at the min frame rates.
Am stating facts here! They is no denying anything when AMD work on a game EVERYONE is a winner! When Nvidia work on a game Everyone is a looser! Even the Gameworks effects hurt Nvidia users for very little image quality.

Yup, that's what happens if a game gets API / dev support by a company like AMD. And not stuffed with GameWorks effects..

2 years later ... more visual effects... open world... and the FPS are HIGHER on the same cards than the previous title:

It just tells you that Nvidia destroys games when they work together with the devs and AMD makes it a good experience on ALL cards... high FPS...

And it shows the true power of all cards. If you have NV sponsored games you see interesting funny things happen in the rankings...

It was Farcry 4 that was a GameWorks title, i think.
 
Kitguru use Vega's turbo profile.... be interested to see benchmark results for tweaked Vega. On the fence about buying the game myself but I'll post my results if I do - I run my 56 @ 1v +50% 24/7.
 
Ubisoft details their use of FP16 compute/Rapid Packed Math in Far Cry 5
One of Far Cry 5's greatest aspects is its use of technology, so much so that there was a lot of discussions about the title at GDC 2018. One specific example of this is the game's use of FP16 "Half-Precision" compute, using simplified calculations to improve the game's performance on PC and console hardware.

While this feature has the most impact on AMD Vega series GPUs, that doesn't mean that the function is not useful on older hardware. Radeon Vega series GPUs make use of a feature called Rapid Packed Math, which replaces a single FP32 calculation with two FP16 calculations, doubling mathematical throughout for FP16 workloads.

This acceleration of FP16 calculations is not available on older GPU architectures like Polaris, but they do require fewer resources, reducing memory bandwidth usage while freeing up space in the GPU's buffers to offer a performance benefit elsewhere.

One example of Ubisoft's use of half-precision compute is in Far Cry 5's water simulations, which use both Async Compute (on consoles) and rapid packed math to deliver realistic water without a huge performance impact. FP16 calculations are likely utilised elsewhere in Far Cry 5, where high levels of mathematical accuracy are not required, though lake/river areas with rapids and a lot of vehicle interactions are expected to see the largest performance gains.

The use of FP16 compute in games will reduce resource utilisation while having no impact on rendered images, while also offering a 2x performance increase in GPUs where features like AMD's Rapid Packed Math are available. So far only the PS4 Pro console and Radeon Vega series GPUs have this feature.

Don't worry, Nvidia's drafting up the Geforce Game Developer Partner Program, then everything will run like **** on AMD and last gen Nv gpu's!:D

But am not wrong about gameworks in general. It's a resource hog and adds very little to a games image quality.

Why is it games that NVidia work on are known for some of the worst performing games. While games that Amd work on are known for some of the best PC ports going.

Name me one bad game that amd worked on for performance?
They is a good amount for nvidia.
 
79 min, 89 average and 104 max with 1080ti sli and 8700k overclocked. Thats ultra with no AA or motion blur. AA had a small effect of knocking the average down to 84fps. A single 1080ti running 2025mhz could not sustain 60fps at ultra and no AA.

Thats at 4k.
 
Nice performance on Vega’s. Good to see what they are capable of.

Not sure about the game though.

They is a good amount for nvidia.
Deus EX Mankind Divided was a dog to run apparently. Can't confirm (I never got it) but one that jumps straight to my head for user feedback in poor performance when MSAA and LOD was added.
 
Getting around 50-60FPS at 4K Ultra settings + AA + Motion Blur on a single Vega 64, averaging around 55ish. Definitely playable for me, although i will most likely play it at 3440x1440 with resolution scaling in game.
 
Yeah, I heard someone had a bad time with a GW title I never played either, just thought I should post this. Hi Greg.
