And honestly they are. I've sat in many 5 Series, E Classes, A6s, XFs, Range Rovers etc., None of them come close to rivaling the comfort of the seats found in my old 11 year old Sweedish estate (which I sadly sold on - that's for another thread).

The E Class and 5 Series are especially terrible. The seats have no "give" - i.e. there's little to no compression when you sit on the seat.

You know what, i have been kept awake for the past few nights thinking about this. Thanks for clearing this up, ill be able to sleep now.

The Recaro seats in the ST220 are very comfy.

As much as I hated my 9-3, the seats were definitely the comfiest in any car I've owned 3 series, 5 series etc).

+1

Best seats I've sat in

not spent much time in volvo's/saabs but i find the french are pretty good at making comfy seats.

i'd say the japs are the worst, although thats more to do with every jap car i've been in feeling a bit claustrophobic.

the germans are ok, but they seem to go for shape rather than padding, so if you don't fit the shape/have it adjusted just so you can end up with random backache after a while.

Really like the sports seat in our E91 and think that they're roughly on par with our old Volvo S60.
Very much rated the 2013 5 series seats that I tried recently. Not sure what they were, though they looked like sports seats. Definitely had the edge on our existing seats.

Volvo and older Saabs for nicest seats. I didn't realise how good the Volvo ones were till I did 4 hours in my first one a few years back and felt just as good getting out as I did when I got in lol. Always thought BMW seats were cr*p in my opinion. My boss has a 3 series and on a work trip they weren't great.
