Far Cry 5 PC Performance Analysis (from Kitguru)

Wow. SLI still a thing for gaming? Thought it was dropped.

Does it work well at least or is a single card a better experience?

SLI looks pretty good @2160p

For the record a single 2016 Pascal Titan averages about 46 fps so the minimums for SLI are well above that.:)

Someone asked earlier how a Titan V would run this.

Brutal

Titan V @2077/1066
6950X @4.4
2160p totally maxed

I am more interested in how a game plays. Don’t care about FPS counter. Many people in the past have said it intruduces a small stutter etc making it less smooth. I am not one for benchmarks anymore, just care about the game feeling smooth.

That Titan V result looks very good. Looking forward to that kind of performance on Turing :)

Was thinking, some games manage to feel smooth at much lower fps than others.

The benchmark looks very good to me using TitanP SLI or Titan V solo.

What does annoy me is this game is a good example of how much benefit will be gained when NVidia finally produce gaming cards using the same tech found in the Titan V.

Pascal is good but Volta is a lot better and NVidia should make the tech available ASAP in proper next gen gaming cards.

Volta Titan V is huge though Kaap. For it's size it's not really that impressive. Titan xp is only 471mm2 compared to Titan V at 815mm2. If you made a Volta chip at 471mm2 would it really be that much better. I am not sure it would be. Stripped out of the compute features it might get some more gains.

Yeah, looking forward to it. Titan V gaming card and performance for 1/3rd the price please :)

Titan V has 50% more SP cores than Pascal Titan Xp but a lot more than 50% increase in performance on FC5.

Or putting it another way a Volta gaming card without the DP and Tensor cores would be seriously fast on FC5.

Wonder why this is as HardOCP done a recent review and are only seeing 30-40% average gains over a 1080ti Founders edition. This would be even less against the xp. Something about FC5 must be letting it stretch it's legs.

There’s no denying that NVIDIA TITAN V smashes GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FE gaming performance at 4K and 1440p. We experienced performance differences up to 40%, most were around the 30% mark, with varying games below or above that average.

I get whiplash reading your comments sometimes... hasn’t the Titan V got HBM2, but you’re the biggest HBM2 hater I’ve ever seen?

Both true.

The Titan V is actually a good example of why I don't like HBM2 on gaming cards.

At stock the Titan V has massive memory bandwidth yet overclocking the HBM2 gives big improvements in performance.

Or putting it another way despite the huge memory bandwidth at stock the graphics performance is still getting throttled.

It’s great for data centre and science for the big bandwidth requirements; but it seems as usually gaming and 3D work wants higher core and memory clocks.

I wonder if NVIDIA will open up the FP16 compute outside of CUDA if more game developers are going to use it.

Would push Volta even further ahead then.

So the game looks to perform well on most systems, which is surprising given ubisofts reputation for day 1 garbage. But is the game actually any good? A lot of these larger open games these days just turn into repetitive trash...

Given I own Farcry 1,2,3 and 4 and have only ever completed 1 I bought 5 this time I have tried to make the game more enjoyable by removing all the handhold like 3D marks around bad guys or wildlife also putting game on hard is really helping me enjoy the game even more.

Gameplay wise it's just Farcry you come to know. They have improved though, gunplay is more enjoyable the setting is great maybe best yet.

He's forgetting though, those Tensor cores will be used for rendering lovely ray tracing very shortly!

In the same boat, the only one I haven't purchased to date was Primal, I gave 3 a good go, 4 I uninstalled after a few hours, tempted to give 5 a blast as general feeling is its pretty good as far as far cry games go. Just trying to suck it up the fact its £50. I'm pretty sure I've never spent that much on a PC game, even the key resellers are only offering it at £43 :o

Thanks for your input, I'll dwell over it while I'm away for the next few weeks :D
