Palmersport 2018

Yeah, it's a great day.

This will be my 3rd, I wasn't planning on doing another as I'm investing in my own track cars... but my friend wants to do one for both the car experience and the tuition... and it's always fun to go with a friend :D

Palmersport is EPIC. If i had £1500 or whatever burning a hole in my pocket, I'd join you guys again in a flash.
Highly recommended. Enjoy it guys!

Damn this is way way out of my budget. Like 8 times haha, although I'd love the chance to go and meet some guys up for a day of racing.

All of my friends are pussy cats and wet themselves on anything faster than a dodgem

About a grand inc VAT.

If you have a company or can put it through a company, I can send you a VAT invoice.

30th June is currently ok for me.

£800ish is for the whole day right?

£825 +VAT (£990 inc) if we don't get the full group of 12.
£795 +VAT (£954 inc) if we manage to fill 12 spaces.

50% deposit required within 14 days of booking and the remaining 50% due by the middle of June.

Yeah that should be the events itself, and catering. The only thing we need clarification on is does that include the full insurance and waivers?
OK thanks - hopefully that can be clarified ASAP...

No, it doesn't.

£35 +VAT (£42) for the full damage waiver or £30 +VAT (£36) if the full group of 12 take it.

Then there is also personal accident insurance (you get paid if you hurt yourself) which is £20 +VAT (£24).

I do have a VAT No. but I don't think my accountant will accept PalmerSport as a business expense. And neither will my other half ;)

Just splurged on a new car as well. Stop tempting me :p

Call it a business meeting / potential client smooze... we talk about business... job's a goodun... then you get it for £800 and write it off as a pre-tax deduction ;)

I’ve done about 5 JP days, and haven’t looked into the reasons but if those are normal prices and they have removed the GT road car ( previously 911 then Jag then M3/M4) and have removed the non h2h track caterham, the value of the experience has been seriously reduced.

I’d be interested in the reasons why they have done this

The M4 is still part of the day. They have replaced the Caterham track laps with new Clio Cup cars. You still get the Caterham pursuit.

So in all you drive what’s mentioned in the OP... not much of a downgrade other than I don’t rate the Clios.

The Atoms are a massive upgrade from the 996 911.

They sure are, the Atoms are such a challenging and fast car, and I felt the 996 were wasted on the track they had them, but at the same time, if they now have Clio’s on the old caterham track then that is a much lesser experience IMO.

Nothing for me beat the analogue unforgiving experience of the caterham, even though my big feet struggled with the pedals!

Everyone will have different views, but for me it’s not worth spending more to lose the M4’s. Not because it’s a lesser car, but because the instructors totally make the difference, and another solo drive is a loss as you aren’t pushed as much as they do.

They haven’t. I’ve done both days back to back. The Atoms are now on the old technical caterham track (where they are a proper challenge) the atom track has the Clios. It works well.

I also don’t know why you keep saying the M4 has gone, it hasn’t, with the exception of the special day where you get the F4. The F4 would be a big step up over the F3000 and well worth the extra spend IMO, shame I simply can’t make that date.

I didn’t keep saying the M4 has gone? I saw that it’s only one day that it’s excluded, and I just gave opinion that one day isn’t worth paying more money for, as its one less session without an instructor.

You have enough other tuition that an extra session on your own is a PLUS for me, not a negative.

That said, my second day at PalmerSport was quite different to most people’s days, as we weren’t getting ANY tuition (just one sighting lap with braking and gear suggestions) just a driver with us to take control if we really messed up! Part and parcel of it being part of a racing competition I guess.

Would be good to get some more to join, but it isn't looking too hopeful.

Annoyingly it's looking like I'll either have to pull out or change the date as something has come up which conflicts and I'll be driving back from the south of France on that day :/

Sorry for the lack of notification, but it ended up being quite a last minute booking and they only had 5 spaces left and I took 4 of them...

I enjoyed the Italian special Palmersport event today a lot... was cool going back there & I bested my last time... although only by a few tenths.

Still... got FTD in the F3000 trophy, team driver of the day & my team won the overall best team prize too!

1m 16.74s

Quite happy with the time, although I missed out on the top 10 leader board by 0.3s :( With some more practice, I think I can work myself into the leaderboard :D

The Formula 4 cars were absolutely amazing. You can drive them at Brands but they're quite heavily restricted, so best to get them on one of the Bedford Palmer days to experience them at their best. Really great balance in the car and they're setup more aggressively than the "safe" F3000 cars - so you get to use more of the aero grip and they've got a good amount of it, surely one of the fastest cars on an experience day. The F3000 was fun and rewarding, but the F4 cars are really special. Still nowhere near the Radical cornering speeds though.

I was 2nd fastest in the F4... there was a guy there who's spent a lot of time in them and he was able to best me... some more practice and I'll bring the competition back to him haha.
