Hi all

Looking at purchasing one of two cards but need your opinions

Gtx780 classified - £180

Rx570 - £200

I only game at 1080p and play the likes of ETS2, Assetto Corsa, Fifa 18.... What would you guys go for

I think they're of very similar performance, though the 570 will have a little more memory (that is, if the 780 is a 3GB one) and is newer tech, so I'd probably go with that.

considering i bought 2 gtx780 classy hydro for £180 for both 2 years ago i would say the rx570 is a much better deal :p. its uses way less power and will probably last longer too, as amd cards dont seem to suffer performance drops as fast as nvidia cards.

The 570 is worth £20 more for the extra VRAM alone. The 780 is a capable card when overclocked in the right titles, but Kepler has inexplicable issues in a lot of newer titles where it performs a lot worse than it should (likely due to the lack of focused driver support). I got rid of mine last year and often found myself annoyed by how it would match a 970 in some titles and perform like dog droppings in others, even when VRAM wasn't an issue.

I've owned a 780 Classified and was disappointed with the fact that even late in it's production run (when I bought it) they never adopted the A2 chips that were used in cards like the Gigabyte GHZ edition. I've had a 4gb 470 too and if I had both now the 470 would be the one I put in my PC.

You can get a GTX 970 for less than £180 on the bay and they're better than both you've suggested.

Get one of those instead.

Wasn't coil whine a big issue with 970's? I wouldn't take the chance unless I was told it never had it & trusted the person selling me it. OCUK helped with the development of the KFA Black edition which was made to minimize or remove the coil whine, If I could find one of those on the MM I might buy it but I bet there's tonnes of noisy ones around.
