Hi guys

I have had the Swiftech Apogee XL for a few years now and it performs great, but I just have the itch and just want something a notch better, I've seen a ton of review & it always seems to come last or second to last

only hoping for a 3c-5c drop in temps at very most, EK EVO is the sure bet I guess but it just looks so damn boring

I wanted to see if anyone could suggest something? I ordered the Alphacool XPX Eisblock Transparent but the finish on the block is really bad and I also seen a few people have the Nylon plastic cracking on amazon reviews so its going back

would prefer the Inlet to be on the left side of the block so my tubing flows nicer.

current theme is dark / black / red

going to be replacing the Intel IHS with a copper one so im hoping with the new CPU Block + Copper IHS 5c temp drop would be great.

You can have the inlet on any side with any block by just rotating the block. I have my EK Evo rotated 180 degrees because I wanted the inlet/outlet's in a specific place. It's coming out soon though and being replaced by the Alphacool XPX I have sitting in my drawer.

Dangerous assumption ...

Personally im a Phanteks or XSPC CPU Water block fan, both I have used and been great.

Heard a few horror stories on here of issues with Seals on EK Waterblocks, also had a friend who despite promising me that he wasn't rough with it, managed to crack the top of his EK waterblock, which resulted in weeks of downtime before he managed to source a replacement top.

Your viewpoint might vary.

The O rings failed on my EK Evo as well and it was only a few months old. It happened at the same time as their AIO's were blowing seals and customer service was abysmal. In the end I got the size of all the O rings from our EK rep on here and sourced them myself. That was the last EK product that I will ever buy and I can't wait to get it out of my system.

I did in the end go for the EK EVO Red Edition, that's before I seen these messages ^ but I still probably would have gone for it as I've never had a problem with EK - I just hate their tube fittings. thanks for everyone's suggestions but it seems like the only option was EK for my situation just tried to fight it and find something else, shame on Alphacool is all I can say I had high hopes since having just gotten one of their top of the line Rads I thought the CPU Block would be good too

The thing with that new block is that I have tried cooling the naked die with my Ek Evo and the Ivybridge naked die kit and found temps to be much worse than with the IHS back on. I was not the only person on here to have worse temps when cooling the naked die either so it will be interesting to see if this block actually does what it is supposed to.

Just read the review of the Ncore block on Hardocp. It kept the cpu 1 degree cooler than an XSPC Raystorm Pro using the same cpu but relidded for the Raystorm. So going off that it probably performs slighty worse than an EK Supremacy Evo as reviews I've seen show the Evo being a degree or two cooler than than the Raystorm Pro.
