Focus 1.5 tdci 120 PS Titanium

I was thinking of remapping the 1.5L diesel 120ps up to 150ps?

Buy a 2 litre then. Don't start with a model that is lower than what you actually want when you're not at the top of the range and or there is no rarity about the model (or power in this case) you actually want

The 125ish bhp version is fine tbh

But in a heavier Focus?
The 1.6tdci in my partners old one was ~115bhp and whilst it was no hot hatch, it wasn’t slow either, it had an excellent blend of performance and economy imo.

I preferred the power delivery of her diesel to the 125ecoboost, she nearly swapped hers for one and decided to stick with what she had.

Speaking from experience here. I have the newer 1.5, 118 BHP (16 plate) estate and the wife has the older 1.6, 115 BHP (61 plate) estate. The newer 1.5 is so much better to drive, it's more responsive lower down the rev range and just feels nippier to drive. It's by no means fast though!

To the op, it seems like you could be looking at the wrong car and it may be worthwhile re-evaluating your requirements. Perhaps take the 1.5 for a test drive, but if it's more poke that you require it may be time to look at alternatives. I certainly wouldn't be buying a relatively new car that could potentially still have manufacturers warranty left on it and then re-mapping it.

Manurfacturer warranty gone- its just turned 3 years old. Have driven a 1.5 tdci and liked it. The remap thing is just an idea so doubt it will happen as don’t want to over stress the engine and gear box.
